Morning to you all! Shadow has 3 Ps so far today and an ugly red number. He is bouncing way high lately and I do not like it. We seem to have moved into Vetsulin types of numbers and I am getting flashbacks. Maybe we need to go back to the last dose when this bounce is over. What do you guys think?
On the other hand, I have been using a higher % carb HC and now I am wondering if it might be a little too high for him at times. ohmygod_smile I thought he might be heading for the ocean floor last night so I gave him 2 tsp HC at +1 and his regular LC snack at +4.
Could that be the reason he is suddenly bouncing so high? So many pieces of this puzzle, eh? :-|
So, what % HC do you all use? I had been using 19% and just bought some 25% and have been using that for at least a week. Sherlock Mama all over again.... :-|

oh my my shadow ... why did you go all the way up to the red floor? I think you are up there by yourself today .. you might want to head down to some lower levels and meet up with your buddies ... Pat, I think the whole FD is a huge puzzle and once you get one piece figured out, you realize you are missing the next piece you need ... have a great day guys!

Blech! I use the new FF Gravy Lovers -- it's around 15 - 17%. I tend to think it depends on how carb sensitive your cat is (ECID).

I wouldn't increase until the bounce clears.

oh Shadow this red is not your colour.
I use FF Medley's but Tray is a bouncy boy espescially lately. Something must be in the air

Hi Pat and I sure understand number frustration and red Shadow what are you doing up on that red floor is there something in the air right now making so many cats pink and red? I am starting to wonder

sHADOW YOU MUST COME DOWN FROM THERE RIGHT NOW!! Pat, that maybe too high a carb 25% & could be driving the numbers up a bit--
I feel your frustration..I also use FF medleys, gets Moonie right up, pretty gently--Hope Sherlock Mama can find the next clue & solve the
enigma!--BUt then look at the nice 72 you had last night--Oh well as was said, FD is a mysterious thing!! Hugs from us!

Wow, that's an ugly red, Shadow. You better get back down to some better numbers. Sorry about that bounce, Pat. There seem to be more bouncy kitties lately.

Blech on that red. Shadow - no no no.... comeon now - blues for your mama.

I use FF gravy Lovers - I think it is a 14/15% carb. Mannie responds fairly well to it. I think the highest % I've ever used is 18%. maybe the 25% is just too much for Shadow?

Well, at least Shadow has company up there on the red floor...he must have convinced Tinkles to stay with him, since he seemed to be headed up one more floor..thanks Shadow! Hopefully they will find their way down together and bring any other red and pink kitties with them...

Pat I use 24% for HC. I don't know how the carb % affects bouncing, I guess it could but it's not clear to me that there's any relationship there. I think it's mostly due to how low they get, how quickly they drop and/or how much of a drop they see. Who knows for sure though? :? I hope the bounce clears quickly!

Pat, as you know, I have 0 experience messing around with carbs, with my one-track-flavor kitty, but my thinking is along the same lines as Laurie's. If he shot up right after the 25% carb food, then yes, I would say it's too high, but shouldn't it be in and out of the system just as fast as any other food, and therefore not a factor in bouncing? I don't know for sure, tho. You can always go back to a lower carb HC and see if it helps, I guess that's the only way to really know.
 
Pat, I feel your frustration. Although Checkers hasn't been quite that high this week, he has been many times, and it stinks.
I am currently also trying to figure out the best carb content. I either don't give enough or overdo it.
You'll figure it out and get your boy back down to nice numbers. You've had him in great numbers, you will do it again. Hang in there. Hug. :smile:
 
UGGGHHHHH, Shadow...whadda doing there??? If those are sympathy numbers for Spot's upset tummy, well, his tummy feels better now so you can come on down!!!

Sorry Shadow is putting out these high numbers today Pat. I'm going to take a wild guess and say that 25% is probably way to high for your boy. I know that Spot is very very carb sensitive...anything over 4% will raise his bg's since he is so used to getting 0-1% carbs. Hopefully that is the culprit!

Pat, just last night you had some nice greens. Don't get discouraged, Shadow's liver just needs to go back to LTS.
 
I wish I knew what the answer was to these huge bounces, but I have literally nil experience of this, as our Sooty has (as you know so well!), completely ignored all the insulin we have ever given him to date! I don't know who is worse off, to be honest!

I hope you will get this figured out - can you say "ECID" or what?

Maybe we all need to send a huge collective message to Shadow's liver: "Hey you! Shadow's liver! STOP PANICKING!!!!!!!!!!!"
