Good Morning all,

Another nice AMPS at 177.
Look lkie 5.75U to 6U is the optimum dose for Jessica.
Hope her dosage will continue to drop.
One thing I still don't understanding, She still need about 6 cans FF classic (3 ozs) each per day.
Every time I added some chicken broth to the food in order to reduce the total volume of food intake.
May be she still has some kinds of GI issue. I continue to give B12 injection (twice a month) and re-start giving renew life probiotic.
Hope she will get better.

Hi again!!

Sorry I missed your condo yesterday. Jessica is starting to have some consistent numbers though!

Until she's better regulated, she'll eat a lot more than a "normal" cat because insulin is needed to make it possible for the nutrition in her food to be broken down into the sugars that the cells can use.

Our kitties are actually starving no matter how much they eat because the nutrition can't be used by the cells. So they eat a lot more trying to make up for it

Adding chicken broth is good since it adds more water, but make sure it's low sodium! Most chicken broths are pretty high in salt

Hi Frankie

I don't think at this point that Jessica's is eating because she is starving due to not being regulated. She is very close to the definition of "regulated":

Regulated [generally below 300 (16.7) with glucose nadir near 100 (5.6), good clinical signs, no hypoglycemia.

The insulin allows them to use the glucose going to their cells. I'm not sure why Jessica eats so much...it could have to do with some kind of intestinal absorption issue and have nothing to do with her diabetes.

At any rate, I'm thrilled to see how much her numbers have come down. I know you want to keep her safe while you are at work. I also think the 6u dose is likely closer to her fitting dose than where she is now.
