Well its a year ago today that Do Lou was Dx'd with FD I will have to admit I had soooooo hoped we would be OTJ by now but we of course not sigh... he is still doing way better then this time last year but you know and I am sure most of you understand you have that little OTJ dream siting in the back of your head dreaming of a party one day. Plus I have not been anywhere overnight in this entire year with DH which I have really missed those weekends away. I think I am going to have to make it my goal to train my DS so that we can once again do things overnight I would take Do Lou and maybe will sometime but he just hates travel so makes me wonder is it worth it for me to have fun and therefore stressing him and maybe making him worse?? so I stay home. WCR he is doing fine amps is higher then I want sure hope he has a breakthru soon I am tired of these higher numbers. Only 1 P present at this time.
Kittens are doing well they are really taking to their mush and their weight is really taking off now so cute they are starting to play with things
Kittens no. 2 NURSING flip_cat flip_cat flip_cat flip_cat and gaining on their own the way it should be whoo hoo its the little things in life with breeding. She is such a good Mom and DH keeps throwing it in my face how I did not want to keep this girl for breeding she was small we had kept 2 out of the same litter and well I am always number paranoid here so he just keeps saying good thing we kept Tigress and giving me that smug look of his.. Mantis the Mom that did not have milk we are going to spay and retire her. Scared to breed her again. Well enough of me rambling on off to coffee up ~O) ~O) ~O)

happy one year annifursary! I know the feeling of wanting to have an OTJ kitty, but at least you can say do lou is doing so much better then he was last year at this time .. Thats a huge part of treating FD and you are doing a great job with that ... And who knows, maybe you will be able to get away one of these weekends if you can train your DS to test/shoot. Have a great day guys!

Re: 11/2 Do Lou amps 285 1 yr since dx'd

Happy (?) Annifursary. Bear Man was past the three year mark when he passed away, so I know how it feels to see all the parties, and always be a bridesmaid and never a bride. There should be still-on-the-juice parties here, too. Your kittens are just adorable.

Thank you so much Linda for the kitten compliment and yeah it can be a bummer to see all the parties sometimes I am of course very happy for whoever is getting to go OTJ but it reminds me that we are not of course

+3 312 back to that darn pink floor what is with him lately I want to get back to those nice numbers he was giving me cat(2)_steam

The kittens are soooo cute!!! You have such a busy household nowadays Lisa....it's so cute that you are talking about a weekend away. I have nothing going on here and I don't leave...and YOU, why you are so busy with all the little ones around you. You are so good Lisa!!! You will get away with your DH with the smug look on his face. So funny! Glad you kept Tigress (has she had a litter previously?) Your time will come soon enough...it would be good for you to get away. If and when you are ready for that!

It is strange to wish you a "Happy" Anniversary...and yet, in a way, it IS a Happy Day when you realize that Do Lou is so much better off now than he was back then. We passed out one year on Aug 5th....so I know how you are feeling. It's a little bittersweet. But, we have met wonderful people in our travels this past year, right? We are all in this together. So, you are another day closer to Do Lou's OTJ. You both have come a long way, baby....and it is all good.
I am amazed at the closeness that this FD has brought to me and my two. It is amazing, isn't it?
So, welcome to the long term club...we are not fly-by-nights.... And we have still on the juice parties each and every day! Happy Milestone Day...Do Lou is 365 days better than he was back then. You have done a GREAT job!!
Congratulations to you both!! :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Re: 11/2 Do Lou amps 285 1 yr since dx'd

Dearest Lisa & Do Lou--Wishing You a HAPPY 1st Annifursary!! I so understand the feeling of hoping for that day your cat will go OTJ(I felt it for 2 yrs!).
And the vacations we used to take on the weekends away, that we take no more, and the Bitter-sweetness of today!
Just remember Do Lou on his very worst day before he was on insulin, and look at him now! You saved his life and he is now well and doing so great!
We must be Thankful for small favors with this disease, and always be hopeful--Remember Libby & Lucy went OTJ after 17 months, so never give up Hope.

It took me what, 2 years to go away for one night! And I just left DH home & had DPS come to shoot this summer for weekend visit to my DA & DU, whom I hadnt seen since Moonie's dx & I was worried the whole time, but she was fine...
This is a hard road, but the road we have been given to travel--Sending you the happiest anniversary wishes for Do Lou to get better & Better!! Big Hugs from us!

aww what sweet things, so adorable.

I know the feeling about wanting that OTJ party but like you said, at least our kitties are doing better and enjoying life. Now if we can only get rid of those pinks!

Oh Pat that is so true all you said about FD for he is doing better and we are much closer did not think that was possible since we were so close before but now we really are and he is just soooo good for testing I remember finding this board this time last year and being advised to hometest and trying for 2 weeks on his ears only to give up for several more months until I heard of paw testing I wish we could do ears since I am always worried his feet will get a infection or something with going in the LB but so far its sure worked out great and have met so many wonderful people here.
As for Tigress no this is her first litter both these girls are first time Moms

Happy one year! As difficult as it is (Gabby passed her one year in May) sometimes, I look at the trade off. I found an incredible community of people that I otherwise would not have found. In addition to learning a huge amount about FD, I've learned volumes more about how to keep Gabby and Gizmo, for that matter, healthy. If not for LL, I'd probably still be feeding dry food. Now, I'm just totally cat obsessed and I have a wonderful on-line support system and a great group of friends I would never have met.

The kittens are so cute. No pics of the older litter?

Not sure if you saw my mush pics Sienne I posted them last week here is the link again for Litter no 1 http://s213.photobucket.com/albums/cc11 ... oo%20kids/ I have not taken any since these will be taking more later this week and I agree with what you said about this forum its like a wonderful extended family and I feel like I also have learned so much about FD since my vets have such a different view on how it should be treated have to admit I am still feeling my hoard dry its just easier for as many as I have, only Do Lou is all wet food

Lisa I agree with everything every one else has posted. Like you I am happy that Powder is so much better but every time someone starts a 14 day trial and he's still posting pinks & reds there is a little sting even with the thrill I feel for their kitty. I know it's silly for me it's only been a couple of months. We all want it so badly and not just because we want to get away. I get worried that OTJ is like a carrot and donkey, out in front of us dangling there so close you can taste but never coming close enough to grab. I'm going to pray every day for our stubborn LL kitties to stay out of the pinks. Here's a call for all the stubblorn LL kitties to come down and stay off the pink floor for good.

Your kittens are beautiful. I could so be hoarder  I just love babies and animals in general. I'm glad momma is taking such good care of them especially after last time. You really went through a lot to get those little cuties to survive. :YMHUG:

You and everyone else here has made an otherwise miserable illness one that brought caring, loving cat lovers into our lives willing to give and teach. So I see this as:

:RAHCAT Happy Anniversary for the day you began to turn DoLou's life and health around. :RAHCAT You are a great bean. cat_pet_icon

I could be a hoarder too Kathy I get so attached thats why 15 is supposed to be my cutoff number but Bug my rescue made 15 so I guess until she finds a home I will have to raise my number to 16 since I know we will keep one of Tigress's dilutes blue and fawn are my fav of abys we will be parting with all of my mush litter and I am so attached to them guess since I have fed them so long they just toddle after me thinking I am Mom its just so darn cute I try so hard to not get attached since I know they have to leave but yeah its impossible. Then of course the placing of Mom will be really hard too its so hard to place adults but at least I always get lots of feedback from my buyers telling me how happy my cats are and that really helps me.

Re: 11/2 Do Lou amps 285+3 312+4 274 1 yr since dx'd

Happy Annifursary Do Lou! wow - has it really been one year? I think we joined this board about the same time. It's been 2.5 years for us - 1.5 of them was without the board. I wish I had known about this place 2.5 years ago.... Live and learn I guess. Our last time away was 2.5 years ago - when I just had someone come and give Mannie his shots. i manage a few day things now and then, and I'm ok with it all.

what Sienne wrote sums it up fairly well for me too.

I know this is a bittersweet anniversary, but you and Do Lou are really doing great. And I don't think you should give up home on going OTJ. There have been others here that have gone more than a year. (((((Lisa)))))

Your kittens are adorable. They are going to be beautiful cats. I am so glad they and their mommy is doing so well. I wish I could have more cats too. My limit is 4.

How is Lily? I missed that she was sick, but I'm sending healing vines for her.

Re: 11/2 Do Lou amps 285+3 312+4 274 1 yr since dx'd

He Lisa....Saying Happy Anniversay feels kinda weird to me.....I'm glad I've gotten to meet you and your furbabies....I'm sorry its under these circumstances.

I'm also glad you are acknowledging all the aspects of this journey.....the challenges, the losses, and the bumps in the road as well as all that has enriched your life. Both are important.

A year is a long time...I hope that you will find a way to have some time away w/your DH......that is important.

And all your kittens are so precious. Thank you for sharing yourself and your kitty family w/us here.

I should have put Lily in my first condo thanks for asking about her Ele, she is doing worse today actually so healing vines are needed today maybe its the hycodan making her this way IDK she has not coughed but she also does not get up out of her bed in the kitchen that is so NOT like her at all she is usually going constantly so I know she must feel very bad she is on pred once a day, clavamox Bid, and hycodan for coughing 2-3 times a day

Hey Lisa, First of all, Happy Anniversary to you and Do Lou. And today he ate out of his automat for the first time!!! His anniversary present to you! "Happy anniversary, Mom, see, I can do it!!" Try not to get discouraged about that elusive OTJ. Do Lou is happy and so much healthier than a year ago.
So here's to another happy year ahead, and if it includes OTJ, so much the better, but for the time being, good numbers would be just fine!! drinking24

Many hugs,

Ella

p.s. Lots of healing vines being sent to Lily.
p.p.s. The kittens are so beautiful

Re: 11/2 Do Lou pmps 318 1 yr since dx'd

Yes Michelle and I have it all ready for his snk at +2 so hoping he does again :-D

UGLY pmps number 318

+1.5 246 now after seeing him go down like this I honestly wonder if my pack of pens which I started on 10/27 is bad tonight I used my older vial dated 10/1 I had called walgreens today with my concern over maybe my insulin was not right and they were soooooo rude gave me a FD lecture about how cats can vary from day to day guess I was talking to the pharmacist but he was a real a#@ so I called the makers of the insulin which were soooooo nice they are replacing my pens did not ?? me at all just took my info and said this could be a matter of quality control so they are going to get walgreens to replace this pack and then I send mine in with a return label so frustrating I know his numbers could just be him but makes me wonder about this box of pens

Happy Annifursary! Glad Do Lou is doing better this year…. Hope he sees better numbers soon... Think blue and green Do Lou...

Looovvve the kittens… They are so cute… :-D I would never be able to give them away either!!! The one in the middle of the food bowl is too much!!! That one knows what s(he) wants!!!! :thumbup

Congratulations on 1Year of Successful FD Management! drinking24 How's that for side stepping the H word? I know on the feeling of being tied to this disease. I'm lucky that DH shares the work and we can take turns being gone. Just wish we could be gone together!

If anything we become closer to our furbabies and we have made such friends here. I feel closer to you than many of the people I have contact in in the real world.

Besides, how could you go away with all those adorable kittens to play with!

So very very true Ann I am so close to him closer then before FD and I did not think that was possible and I love all you guys my extended FD family I agree Ann how I am closer to you all then most people I work with in person :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG: and I really do need to teach others in the house DH is capable he just is afraid to mess up and me yell at him I guess DS is my best option for help so I really am going to have to show him how to test and shoot so we can go away at least on occasion

Happy Anniversary. Think how much better Do Lou is now than when you started this journey.

You do have your hands full, don't you? Your kittens are adorable.

Happy annifursary!

I always say this is a happy annifursary, because 1 year ago you probably thought Do Lou was going to die soon. Instead, he is just fine and you have a closer relationship than you ever have before. OTJ is wonderful, obviously, but being ON the juice is great too, because it means he is still with you. So congratulations on a job well done.

Dear Lisa: I'm so sorry I'm just getting to your condo today but...Happy Annifursary...also seems odd to say that...I wasn't sure in my opening condo today WHAT to say.
So many wonderful sentiments in your condo today...I was touched by so many and I think they all hit the nail on the head...but Sienne's comments surely hit home. Some times Mike and I feel like we don't have any of our former social life...we always travelled and had lots of dinner parties...out every weekends with friends...golfed every Friday. Well, do I miss it..yes...but my Gracie is so much more important to me than all those things...actually to both of us. We love our home and I couldnt bear the thought of leaving her; I think we have them for such a short time, relatively, and we've seen and done alot of things...so I'm satisfied to just be home and take
care of her. I know you feel the same about Do Lou....he's done so well. And I'm sure his love rewards you many times over. CONGRATS he used his feeder!!!!

So happy to hear about all the kittens...amazing how you brought that first litter through.

And it's true, too....all of us here together...this group is amazing.
