11/19 Merlin AMPS 296 +9 277

Last night at PMS +9 and +10 when I tested, he tested high but wasn't acting (playful, alert, not lethargic and hungry!) as if his BG was that high. So this morning I tested on his normal glucometer (bayer contour) and he got a 429. I made sure to get out enough blood so I wouldn't have to prick him again and tested him with our brand new Freestyle Freedom Lite and got a 296. I understand that glucometers can have a + or - 20%, which would mean that on his contour it could really be anywhere between 345 and 513, on the freestyle it could be 238 - 354. Both have been control solutioned with the new package of strips, both have not moved in temperatures, nor have the strips moved from temperature to temperature.

So, which one do I go with? LOL Should I split the difference, going with a median between the high for the freestyle and the low for the contour?

Oy too much thinking this early in the morning.

Waiting on purring. Also, I've noticed a HUGE decrease in the amount of output P's since the transition from dry to can to raw, but from what I've read, this is fairly normal?

Morning guys .. can't help on the meter question .. we use the wal mart relion and that is the only one we use. Glad to hear merlin was still feeling good even if he did have a high number ... have a great weekend guys! Oh and yes, I do believe less P's are fairly common when going to better food ... cause the body uses more of it, and wastes less of it? At least, that is my understanding .. I'm sure someone can clarify!

yes, less P's when on raw so no worries there. Can't help you with the meter thing, sure is a big difference though.

Thank you! I hope you and yours have a great weekend! I'm inclined to go with the lower number because that would match how he was acting more than the higher number. When he gets to the 400's he's like a limp rag doll and he was definitely not like that last night.

I started out using the Contour myself....then I switched to the Reli-On micro. I found that the Contour was always way higher. Are you going to be using the Freestyle form now on? Whenever people start comparing between two meters, they go through a lot of strips and get a lot of numbers... :lol: It is usually suggested that one chooses one ....and then forget about comparing.
I was concerned with Raja's low numbers, and I wanted to err on the side of caution. So, when the Contour was always so much higher (I think it does that with higher numbers, but the lower range seems to be more consistent with other meters) I decided to stick with the Reli-On.
There will always be a meter variance, so the choice is yours as to which you will use all the time....
How is Merlin feeling?

Will you be available to do a curve one of these days? It would be good to get some ideas of how Merlin is doing during the cycles... a curve would be good....

I'm going to be moving to the Freestyle, but I just bought a bunch of strips for my contour, so I was hoping to use them, but if they keep consistently testing high like this, they're going in the garbage bin!

And yes, we're going to curve on the Freestyle, I'm just waiting to get a shipment of strips in.

Merlin is doing pretty dag on good. He's snoozing behind me but I'm getting ready to jump into bed (work tonight) so I'm sure within a few minutes I'll have company. LOL

Diana...maybe put the AMPS in your header...the one form the Freestyle. Did you order the strips online?

I did! I love deliveries but I hate waiting for them! Wouldn't it be nice if you could get an online price and then just go pick it up at the nearest drugstore? :lol:
