Good day all the beans and kitties!

It looks like she is bouncing still with these "low" numbers. Would really appreciate any suggestions. I am getting in as many bs readings as I can.

Needless to say my own diabetes (type 1) has now become unstable (has been wonderfully stable since I got an insulin pump ten years ago) with my sugars ranging from low 40's to high 300's. :YMSIGH: I am having to recalculate my basal/bolus rates to try and even back out. It just shows what stress does with diabetes, same as cats! Sorry, I know this has nothing to do with mary grace but just wanted to vent some of my personal frustrations with this disease.

Hope everyone has a good day!
back to work before I get caught doing personal stuff!!
Finally home!
Another high number at PMPS. I am going to get a number an hour for as long as I can stay awake, then get back up and do some more.
Question: How do I get her liver to start being okay with numbers under 200?

Re: 11/19 Mary Grace 305 +2 270

i can only imagine what it's like to have diabetes. taking care of punkin provided great incentive for me to do everything i can do avoid it. runs in my family - but i don't want it!

i'm not sure what other specific tests to suggest - i think of the spreadsheet as a jigsaw puzzle. the more pieces that are filled in the more the picture becomes visible. dosing with lantus is based upon the nadir - so the more nadirs we can see the more we can help with dosing. things just aren't very clear with her yet.

you don't need to test every hour but any you can get to help fill in the puzzle will help us figure her out better. i know you're gone to work a lot, so just do the best you can.

Thanks again Julie and for sticking with me!
I was going to test her every hour tonight, patience pants are becoming too tight, so I could get more data. But I would prefer, less hassle to her, to do it every couple of hours. If I am aiming to get the nadir number and I believe you had said it looked to be +5, then should I test at that +5 and then after?

if you're up for it, i'd get a +3, +5 and maybe a +6. something like that. what we're looking for is to see when the number begins to rise.

Hi Elizabeth!
I have no advice, just wanted to tell you what a great job you are doing :-D This 'dance' is frustrating, rewarding, frustrating...but it's something we don't have to do alone and that does help the sanity factor  Sorry your diabetes is acting up (like you need that on top of everything else!) Take care of yourself, breathe, and remember that you are surrounded by a community that 'gets' it and cares about you and Mary Grace :-D :YMHUG:

Thanks Kim- I needed that hug and reassurance! and if I didn't have this board I would have gone crazy for sure. All of you are wonderful to give your time and thoughts....
Head But from Mary Grace

good advice from Kim. it is very easy to get frustrated with all of this - and we all get it.

one of the Lantus Land bits of wisdom is to remember that "it's a marathon, not a sprint." keeping an eye on how your kitty is feeling reminds us that she is more than her blood sugar numbers.

hang in there. you're not alone.
