Since he was over 400, and he typically eats a lot when I first put it down, I gave a small bolus dose of R (0.25ish) in addition to the 1.8 units of ProZinc. The bolus will take down about 100 points in the next 2 hours, leaving the rest to the ProZinc. I'm hoping this works better for him.

Food out today is the mix of Sophisticat and Pro Plan.

Re: 11/19/2011 Spitzer AMPS~463, +8~382

And +8 is 382

Will test again @ +10 to see if its going up, down, or sideways.

Seriously?

Gave him 1 unit of ProZinc to pull him down - he isn't due for 2 more hours, d*mnit.

Are you going to start shooting as needed? It's ok to shoot 2 hours early but you may need to adjust on the back side.

I hope he comes down soon.

That was a touch more than half his dose - I figured on adding the other half shortly.

Re: 11/19/2011 Spitzer AMPS~463, +8~382,+10/PMPS1~413,PMPS2~

463 - AMPS
382 - +8
413 - +10 / PMPS 1, gave 1 unit
351 - PMPS 2, gave 1 unit

taking it up to 2 units, and split the dose by 2 hours
Hoping for a little carry over, so I can test next morning at 7-ish

I wish SOMETHING would work.

Re: 11/19/2011 Spitzer +10/PMPS1~413,PMPS2~351,+2~283

283 - +4 of the 1st unit, +2 of the 2nd unit

Actually looks like he's moving downward. Maybe dose splitting is the way to go? Or will the cummulative 2 units be too much? I'll re-test @ midnight my time, +4/+6.

Logic would say (although there seems to be very little "logical" with Spitzer), that you would have a two hour period where he would see the "total" effectiveness of the dual doses, and that you would get 2 hours longer than normal duration. But I'm sure this defies logic. ohmygod_smile

Exactly. Not a d*mn thing seeming logical.

Theoretically, this might stretch out any nadir - actually 2 smaller nadirs offset by 2 hours, 1 for each dose.

And the doses might tail off more slowly. I Haven't put that pattern in my doseage patterns spreadsheet yet.

Does acromegaly, IAAA, or Cushings do anything like this so erratic response to insulin? He's a moderatly large framed cat and should weigh about 11 pounds, though he's down to just over 7 pounds.

No idea, but maybe visit the acro forum? Even if nobody is around, you could check out some of the acro SS's.

413 +10/PMPS1
351 PMPS2/+2
283 +2/4
275 +4/6

slowed off dropping - so if he was having a nadir, it may've been ... and be going.
