His insurance claim got denied because his glucose was elevated once when he was hospitalized in 2015 for a nose bleed...so I'm a little bummed out and irritated today. He really liked those pure bites raw treats so I have ordered more. I am thinking about increasing the dose to 1.25, but want to wait until the calipers come in so I can be consistent with dosing. They should be here tomorrow along with the scale I ordered. I don't go back to work until Thursday night so hopefully that will work out. He's been grooming a lot today, seems to trying to reach his shoulder area ,so I was thinking about moving my shooting area. I wanted to ask how often folks rotate shooting sites?
I also feel like I don't have a clear idea of a high carb food to have in his kit. I still have some of his old C/D cans, but I think that was around 28 carbs...high enough? I am not sure what is ideal for a hypo episode...?

Got a case of the Mondays here. Hope everyone is having a good one.

Just looking for high carb foods for his emergency/ low numbers kit...Should I post this on the main health forum?

How much carbs are needed for high carbs is an ECID thing. I think 28% is too high, though I have seen some that need low 20’s %. Unless Neko was really low, I was fine with high teens. But I did have a can of 21% around just in case. Many people like the Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers cause it was easy to squeeze out just the gravy, where the carbs are. My girl ended up not being able to handle wheat, so I chose some of the Weruva Cats in the Kitchen pouches. Some people just add a drop of Karo to low carb food to boost the carbs. Small packaging is a bonus as you tend to just go through a little at once.

Take notes how much higher carb food you feed, the %carbs, and when in the cycle, to see what works for you. You might want to consider the Weruva with it’s lower phosphorus and I notice a hex of crystals.

Ugh on the insurance claim. Had a civvie in the 200’s at a stressful vet visit, then 53 at home the next day. Vet called that day all concerned about bloodwork results. Sorry, no sale.:p
