Re: 11/18 Day 2 Bj AmPs(73)

Thanks for the cheers yesterday everybody.

Have disappointing news: Looks like Bj is down with another resperatory infection again. On day 0 he sneezed a LOT and on day 1 he wasn't sneezing so much but the sniffles are back and he seemed off. Now, I'm hoping it's just a cold (do cats get those?) but I have my doubts.

When he was on AB's in September it made his numbers skyrocket and I had to start treatment over. So not a good sign. I'm going to try to keep an eye on him the next couple days and go from there. Probably have to go back to the vet.

Oh Mike, that is a bummer indeed! Starting over...ugh! What a daunting thought. Sending healing vines to BJ. C'mon BJ! Kick those sniffles in the butt and stay on the OTJ bus!

Mike --

When on a trial, you don't have an AMPS -- it implies you gave a shot. Instead, you have an AMBG (and PMBG).

When Bj had the URI, it's possible that his numbers went up for 1 or 2 reasons. An infection all by itself can raise numbers. In addition, if the antibiotic you're using has a sugar syrup base, that doesn't help matters. May of the liquid antibiotics are in a syrup base. If this is, in fact, a URI and needs treatment, see if you can get pills. The other reason that Bj could be sneezing is the change of season.

Good numbers. Keep it up BJ

cats can catch many different things from us. (and vice versa)
Flu sharing has been a big topic on the health news as of late.

And Sienne can probably say it far better. Diet controlled diabetic cats seem to be more suseptible to infections.
Remember , BJ isn't cured of diabetes. He's just about to be a diet controlled diabetic.

Paws crossed it isn't a setback. Meanwhile, WOOT DAY 2!!!

I will try to get pills if I can. I think it was that syrup AB that was awful - the day I stopped feeding it the numbers dropped off a cliff.

I guess I'm at the point where I have to decide how long to wait before taking him to the vet. Waiting too long isn't good, obviously. Then there is the holiday coming this week... Ugh. I can't be sure it's that infection yet. But my gut/perception is saying yes.

Thanks for the advice and well wishes everybody.

Hi Mike, Happy Day 2 OTJ! Looking good Bj!
:RAHCAT :RAHCAT
Sorry to hear Bj may have another URI, paws crossed his symptoms are from change of season instead of illness. You are there with Bj and know him best, trust your gut about the vet visit. If he does have the infection again, hope you are able to get pills instead of the syrup.

Hi Mike - Congrats on day 2 of trial! YAY!

I hope that you are not dealing with an URI. paws crossed for you, and hope it's just this wonderful weather change that we are going through here in WA. I am with Leslie - you know BJ best, I'd go with your instincts... Good be health vines sent to BJ.

Hi from another neighbour a little to the north of you. Bj's numbers are still looking great in spite of how he is feeling. Have you ever given him L-Lysine for his URI? Here's a LL condo on Lysine that might be of interest.
