Good morning
Thanks to everyone that is helping us.

Tansi has so far had 2 doses of Ondesterone and will get a third shortly. I am giving it every 8 hours and cerenia once every 24 hours.

So far there is no change to appetite.
He would not look at food today. I gave restoralax dissolved in water via syringe. Yesterday and today he drank water on his own.

He looks sick and in pain again.
How soon should I notice an improvement with the Ondesterone?
Depending on that, if it isn't going yo help, we are going for the etube.

Have a great day, you all deserve!

It took me a couple of days to see ondansetron working if Max was really sick. Are you giving an appetite stimulant too?

If he doesn’t improve today I think the e tube is a good idea. Is syringe feeding stressful for him? Max was super sensitive and vet trips caused his pancreatitis to act up. If syringe feeding is a battle a tube is even a better idea. It helped Butters who was hospitalized for a week more than once before she got one. It was removed and hasn’t been needed again.

Ok thanks Elise
They syringe feeding is not that bad but it is stressful and he isn't getting enough as I stop when he gets super stressed and starts growling. So like 6 ml every two hours.
On miritaz still as vet wanted to see if Ondesterone worked and may not need the Cypraheptadine after all.
I am just now going to call the vet snd see what days are open for surgery.
Thanks a million.

@Cindy loves Tansi , justto tell you what has worked for Lando so far: he has NEVER failed to eat INABA CHURU as a snack ( this sometimes stimulated him to eat).
Also i found that he preferred the dog freeze dried chicken treats ( not pure bites). Nourish and Wholehearted. I noticed these crumbled better and became more dust like over his food. He liked that ( maybe theres more chicken fat in it).
As far as medication goes, what worked best for him was cerenia 1/2 pill a day ( hes 18lbs) and he would start eating after the 3rd day.
I also ended up syringe feeding him and was lucky that he was semi cooperative. That was A LOT but i chose that over tube.
It sounds like you have tried it all… but wanted to post this JUST INCASE there is one nugget of advice that may help
Good luck!

Thanks for all the advice
I do appreciate

Hope all goes well. Just wanted to offer some moral support for the e-tube - it was nowhere near as stressful as I was afraid it would be. I was dreading it, but was pleasantly surprised how easy it was. They put a kitty kollar on Minnie which is designed to help keep the tube in place, plus I didn't have to see it sticking out (I'm a bit squeamish!). I bought a nutribullet to make up the slurry and the vet provided the recipe (AD food blends so easily) and a variety of sizes of syringes. Plus bonus, easy to get medicines down her through the tube. Once she started feeling better, she went to eat from her bowl and they removed the tube (a-hem, because she was well enough to dislodge it herself and there was no way I was going to pull it out!!). That was back in March and April when things were touch and go. She is a fat feeding machine now.

All that to say, the e-tube was a great thing for us. I hope things go as well for you and Tansi. :bighug:

Thank you so much!
I have already ordered that kitty koller
And I bought a magic bullet for syringe feeding so I am halfway prepared I guess! Apart from the surgery part , it seems a lot less stressful than whats been happening. I am so glad your kitty is good now. I appreciate your support.

I’m very concerned about Tansi. I will keep him in my prayers. I’m sure they can get him feeling better. As I said before, when my Darcy had DKA -and hepatic lipidosis the feeding tube saved his life. The regular nutrition through the tube really helped him so much. Let us know how Tansi is doing in the ER.

I just heard back from the er vet. Bilirubin levels high, and there is jaundice. But his liver values are normal. There is liquid in his abdomen which is yellow but not urine.
Tomorrow when he goes to IM they will probably do another ultrasound and a fine needle aspiration of liver. He said he thinks Tansi will feel better tomorrow with the iv hydration.
I am relatively optimistic.
200 percent going for the etube. It is my hope that they can do it Friday.
Thanks for your help and suggestions.
I am so happy to have this group.

So strange. The vet didn’t give you any idea what the cause of the abdominal fluid was? High bilirubin can just be from the pancreatitis- especially if there’s a blocked bile duct. I feel so sorry for poor Tansi. I bet that’s why he has yellow fluid in there. It makes sense.

I think it’s a good sign that his liver values are normal. I think you caught this in time to prevent possible liver damage.
Good morning!
Yes, the er doctor thought that the bilirubin could just be the pancreatitis and not a liver problem. But he didn’t want to guess and said IM would have a better idea after other testing.
I am confused about the liquid in his abdomen as well. Apparently there was also a small amount at his first ultrasound two weeks ago, but now there is more. More answers today I hope. Since I have been giving him 100ml sub q daily but he is still dehydrated, maybe it isn't being absorbed right?
Poop was grey initially, the last few tiny turdlets have been brown.
Thanks for all the support. It means so much to us.
