Susanne, are you ready to switch to that human meter yet?

Looks like LT could use a tad more juice or a human meter....just sayin'

Well the human meter gives me the same numbers as my pet meter, so it won’t give me the greens we need. I could use the Prime, but I think it’s not enough insulin. We just can’t find a way to give more than the NJ without sending him swimming with the sharks . What we guesstimate is 0.1 is too much but we can’t find a way to measure more than NJ. Calipers really don’t help at these minute amounts.

Will he eat medium or higher carb foods with a little more insulin? Sometimes in order to give a little higher dose, more carbs in the food will help him surf through safely. That is a juggling act.

Do you know how much MC I would add to his regular meal? Do you know someone else who has done this? I could start this on Friday morning. I have an out of town doctor’s appointment on Thursday and will be gone about 6 hours, so I don’t want a change before I leave.

That's something that of course we have to say every cat is different - you'll have to play around with various carb amounts and quantities. I guess I'd start with a teaspoon or two of something in the 8-10 % range and see how he responds. Is he easily affected by carbs? Do his numbers come up easily when he eats a medium carb food?

If so, you might be able to help him surf along with something even a bit higher - like 12-15% - that's why I mentioned it's a juggling act trying to figure out which food he'll respond to and not go to the moon...then adjust the insulin accordingly...he does look like he could use a tad more...
