HAPPY CATURDAY!!!

Well, looks like Hershey's bounce broke! WOO-HOO!!! All is a blur around here, with Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes and Thanksgiving rapidly approaching! Yesterday, we worked at the local relay center which sent Hershey's schedule right out the window! I felt so guilty when I got home later (+14.5) last night and he was (368), but +8 (126) made me feel all was forgiven. :-D We're working there again Monday, the state processing center on Wednesday, and Thanksgiving on Thursday, so poor little fella won't know which end is up! We're so far off schedule that I missed my normal testing times today and think I'm going to have to write it down to keep it straight...Anyhoo -

**Thinking out loud: Wednesday, I'll be gone probably 13 hours and have no hope of assistance with Hershey. I've thought of different scenarios...I could shoot in time to check him at +3 or so before leaving, but that would extend his time without insulin by several hours. So - I'm thinking the best thing to do is shoot on my way out the door. Now, the concern with that is that I won't know how low he'll go while I'm home. But, if I feed him his regular meal at shot time (on the way out the door) and leave 1/2 can FF in auto-feeder for +3-4(depending on his BG when I leave) plus another 1/4 can FF for +5 (just in case). He should be okay, don't you think? I say 1/2 can, then 1/4 can because I can't be sure Hershey won't bully his way to having it all!! Or, maybe I should just leave the 1/4 can 'snack' for Hershey and not Oreo so that's 1/4 can less than Hershey can ingest?? Or, does that extra 1/4 can really matter in the scheme of things???

I figure I'll use the same approach for all three days I'll be in Charlotte. I know it's not ideal to move his shot schedule all around, but sometimes you have to do these things..Thanks for double-checking my thinking and helping us figure things out!!

**OT - I think we've found what was causing Oreo's vomiting - Poultry Platter Friskies Pate'. Funny, because he's eaten is lots of times with no problem. Wonder if they changed something or if something has changed about Oreo's tummy. And, Hershey's vomiting has subsided without us being positive of the culprit. Still thinking a hairball sounds possible.

Thank you for visiting us today! Shame you don't live closer or I would've shared the yummy chocolate pumpkin muffins we had for brunch! Jessica and I don't like pumpkin but, thankfully - as the recipe stated, there was no taste of pumpkin!! :-D

Have a great day -

Libby (& Hershey, too!)

Hello, I would like the recipe ;) sounds yummy!

Also I reckon if you are worried at all about him dropping low then shoot him at the usual time, measure him at +3 and then be late with the evening shot. Better to be too high than having a hypo... Or do you have time to shift the schedule?

Hey, Wendy -

I'll think on the shot some more tomorrow. My brain is tired tonight...I always thought things would slow down as my kids got older. Seems the only thing that slowed down was me!

The muffins were SUPER easy!

1 box chocolate cake mix
15-oz can pumpkin
1/4-cup milk

Mix with electric mixer until you have a well blended batter. Bake 20 - 25 min at 350 F. I put half the batter in the muffin cup, then sprinkled a few choc chips before adding more batter. If my son and husband had been home, I would have done a few with peanut butter in the middle and next time, Jessica wants me to do a few with Nutella in the middle.

I'm told if you use yellow or white cake mix, you can taste the pumpkin and may not need the milk with that one.

Hope you like them!
