Yay!! I did a happy dance and made me smile - it still seems that the dose may not be quite enough though. I really thought I would be seeing a little green and maybe blue PS' - trying to be patient.Yay he's heading down.
So 14 cycles? I get confused because it hasn't always been the full time before recommending a dose increase here.you need to wait a week
This is Gizmo - lol. He doesn't care as long as it is food.so they don't get tired of one and stop eating it
The tag came through! It's great Gizmo loves food. It makes this dance a whole lot easier when they are good eatersHow do I "tag"? @Doodles & Karen & @carfurby is there a way to do it automatically - or do you just type it out? Still learning how to operate here
I see green real soon...nice and easy buddy.Blue!!+3 snack in about 20 min

Maybe. I am not sure right now. I am ok pushing it when I can test but to shoot low numbers and then leave for work - even with the autofeeder - scares the **** out of me! I don't know if I could handle it if something happened while he was alone and I was the cause. I almost can't even think about it.I seem to remember you talking about making the switch to TR once things had settled with him after making the food switch.
Possibly, time will tell.+7 173
+6 snack was 40 min ago - # may be partially food bump.
Is the primary difference the dosage changes? I just read through the sticky's this morning was wondering at the time.I do think you could easily do TR
Pretty much. With SLGS you wait 7 days to change the dose, unless a decrease is earned, and the threshold is 90 (on a human meter), as opposed to 3-5 days and 50 (40 for long term diabetics) with TR. With SLGS, you get your preshot tests daily and do a curve once a week to determine if a dose change is needed (although you can test more and we encourage that). With TR you need to get a minimum of the preshot tests and at least one mid-cycle test daily (although we encourage at least one mid-cycle test per cycle) and adjust dose accordingly. TR is more aggressive, as you don't leave the kitty sitting in high numbers for a week, as can happen with SLGS, but you do need to monitor a bit more and be ready to make changes. Also, SLGS allows dry food (although it's discouraged), and TR absolutely does not allow it. TR is based on documented research, while SLGS was developed by lay people looking to find a more schedule-friendly, less intensive method. Is the primary difference the dosage changes?
This is where I have the issue - I can't get any mid-cycle during the week when working. Best I can do is maybe +5 one-two days a week. I just can't stay up that late and get up at 3:45am.With TR you need to get a minimum of the preshot tests and at least one mid-cycle test daily (although we encourage at least one mid-cycle test per cycle) and adjust dose accordingly
It's OK to be cautious. Personally if I had your schedule TR would not be my choice until much later with a lot more data but that's me. You can always switch back and forth and "modify" the SLGS depending on how much testing you are able to get. This is where I have the issue - I can't get any mid-cycle during the week when working

Right? It may have been a bit of stress as daddy did the test/shot tonight. I tagged him when he got home so I could run to the grocery store. He (daddy) stresses when he has to do it and I think it transfers. Gizmo has done this before - I forget what it's called... (went and looked it up) the number dip around +10 or +11.What's with that huge jump from +11 to PMPS Gizmo?
He did the "double dip" as we call it toward the end of the cycleI forget what it's called... (went and looked it up) the number dip around +10 or +11.
There is something called Dawn Phenomenon that can affect the AMPS numbers. Sometimes they are the last to come down. Unless that +11 was a bad test he had a good size drop from +8 to +11 and may have triggered another mini bounce. Hopefully he'll slide back to blue tonight. It is like the insulin doesn't last quite long enough to get him blue for PS. Maybe tomorrow morning, but it seems he is closer in the evenings than in the AM
Interesting. There is something called Dawn Phenomenon that can affect the AMPS numbers
I think I am going to give it one more day.Technically you can increase him tomorrow morning.
I don't. His levels are holding steady right in the middle of normal. It's very surprising considering Lasix is a potassium robbing medication and he's on a huge dose. Did they ever give you an indication as to why Gizmo's levels run on the low side? FWIW my cardiologist mentioned that usually a kitty will have low potassium from not eating enough. Doesn't sound like that's Gizmo's issue at all!Do you give Doodles potassium?
Thanks. I am going to call and talk with the Tech tomorrow. I thought I had a potassium powder "saved" in my Amazon list (it was from someone here) but I don't I will go back and try and find it tomorrow. Gizmo just seems lethargic and a bit wobbly upon waking - I would rather not wait for three weeks to find out. Even once a day won't hurt him for that long.I don't
