Nice start for Trix today...she's working hard to make up for Bean's mistakes earlier this week - good girl!

Endless prayers continue for Roni, Moonie, and Brad.

Have a great day, everyone!

Amy

Way to go Trixie! That is the way to do it. No harm no foul on the bean error earlier in the week. Have a great day Amy!!

Re: 11/16 Trixie AMPS 150 +2.25 91 - Mario's BW

Just spoke to the vetty...overall, a pretty good report - not perfect, given his age and pre-existing health issues, but not bad. His kidney values are normal (it annoys me to no end that years ago they told me he was in early stage renal disease and "suggested" I switch his food to you-know-what. Out of fear and inexperience, I did that. A couple years ago, I switched back to "good" food, because he hated that K/D His kidney values have remained normal since, despite the fact that I took him off that supposed special kidney diet...), his thyroid is still regulated so no dosage adjustments there. Last year, he had 2 liver values that were elevated. One is back to normal, and the other (the ALT) is still slightly elevated, but better than it was last year. He still has the mystery elevated WBCs, but those are also better than they were last year. The biggest concern is that his weight is slowly trending downward.

At his age (he'll be 18 in March), and given all his conditions and the meds he's on (tapazole, BP pills, adequan), and given the fact that his clinically one happy and healthy cat at home (All Ps in place, including playing!), I'm not subjecting him to any further testing unless his health takes a noticeable turn, even though he has some oddities in his BW. I want his days to be as stress-free as possible, and even if we did run all sorts of tests, we don't know if we'd get any answers, or find anything that would be "fixable" anyway. If he were a younger cat, I'd take a different path. Overall, I have a good gut instinct about my kitties...last year, she was pushing for an US and I opted to not do it because I felt he was in good shape. Here we are a year later, and he's actually healthier than he was then. Soooo...go figure. As we all know, it's a balancing act.

So, with fingers and paws crossed, hopefully we won't have to go back again until he's due for the next routine round of checks.

Back to work for me!

That sounds like a great report for your guy! :-D Was it Marje that was singing the praises of coconut oil and said that Gus was putting on some weight since he started getting some daily?

Yep, Marje was talking about the coconut oil...I have to try and look into that this weekend, in between working and fuds shopping for beans and kitties!

Looks like she decided to hang in the lagoon all day....hopefully she won't go for any dives tonight!

Hi Amy, that's a good report on Mario, and I like how you're handling things with him insofar as further tests. Trixie baby is looking good, too! All around a nice day.

Re: 11/16 Trixie PMPS 77 - Mario's BW

Nice green surfing for Trixie today  hope she stays in the easy greens for you tonight! Glad Mario got good report too, nice way to go into the weekend! After Marje's post about coconut oiI I ordered a jar Sunday and it came yesterday. I offered Jasper some and he loved it! Our other 3 cats turned up their little noses and refused it. If it helps Jasper have less hairballing, we will devise some trickery to get it into the other cats.

Thanks for all the visits, everyone! I am pleased with Mario's BW this time...it's the best it's been in years.

Trix is keeping me hoppin' tonight. I suspect she would drop below 50, but I pulled out the HC grave at +2 (and +4) to keep things in check. I'm thinking I'll shave her dose tomorrow morning, just because I am forcing her to stay up with the gravy. We're not done testing tonight, but I'm starting to wind down as best I can...

Nice surfing Trixie! Doing great in both cycles & ready for a shave.
Glad that Mario's BW is all clean, it's very good for an 18 yrs young baby. I agree with you totally to avoid on the vet testing unless real necessary. The stress can bring much harm to our furry babies.
Good luck with the new dose! Have a relaxing weekend, Amy!

Nice work with Trix. It sure is great to see her having such great cycles.

I'm so happy you got such good news on Mario's bloodwork. Amazing he is 18 and his kidneys are doing so well! Bravo!! You have the right attitude about his aging....the same we do for Gus. Mario is a lucky boy.

Hope you get some rest tonight.
