Good morning
Tansi stopped eating after breakfaat yesterday. Was lethargic and pain face all day. Syringe feeding. Noticed some drooling.
Got prescription for more bupre filled.
Ondesterone will be ready this afternoon.
Noticed straining last night, so have included small dose restoralax in food.

This morning a bit more chipper than last night. Ran to food bowl and ate a few bites.
Reading up on etubes.

Have a great day
Many thanks for all the love ❤

My kitty Mr. Lump just got his e tube removed yesterday. If you end up getting one, it is scary at first but you will get the hang of it. For me, the most stressful part was keeping the site clean as I was terrified he was going to get an infection. Vet ended up giving me a short round of antibiotics for him and it healed up super nicely. It also made administering his meds super easy as I could never pill him or even get him to take liquid. I am really glad I went thru with getting the e tube because without it he truly would've starved and not made it. Remember cats can develop a dangerous condition called fatty liver disease after just 2-3 days of not eating. Wishing you both the best :cat:

Thank you for sharing that. It is super comforting to hear. I am giving him a day or maybe two on the new antinausea med, still syringe feeding every two hours which he hates. If he doesn't improve, we are going for it.
Thanks and lots of love to Mr Lump whst a cute name. We had a cat named Tubbus once which made me laugh also.

It's good he ran to the bowl this morning to eat, so he still has a bit of an appetite :) hopefully the anti nausea meds do the trick!!

He is my Lumpy boy!! When we found him he was all matted up and felt "lumpy" when you pet him, hence the name. Tubbus! How cute.

Another thing I wanted to add was that when he first got the e tube and came home he was really sick, more sick than when I dropped him off to get the tube in. It worried me, but I had to remember now his body was getting food and he wasn't used to it and was getting more nauseous because of that. He never vomited, thank goodness, but it was hard to see and I wasn't mentally prepared for him to be so sick. So dont let that scare you and just be prepared if Tansi is a bit off for a while! You are doing the best thing for him by making sure he is getting the food he needs <3

Aw poor baby. Is he good now?
I am very happy to hear what to expect.

He is definitely on the mend now! No more nausea or stinky poops lol. Has been eating on his own for over a week now and has mostly returned to his normal self :) the steroids really worked their magic in reducing inflammation making him much more comfortable!

That's great. I'm happy for you and Mr Lump.

Just saw yesterday's tag. Feeding tube is a good thing. You will be able to get meds in which is important and food. B12 is good. You can give it in the fluids so its one less needle stick. You will still offer his regular food and he will start eating eventually. As far as another US I guess it depends on how you feel about it and if you can swing it. Tux's vet wanted another one 4 weeks after the first one. She said before she treats with pred or any steroid she wants to know exactly what we are dealing with. She wants to know if his triaditis got better or worse, if 1, 2, 3 organs are involved or any combination of the 3. She said maybe get fine needle aspiration as it could be lymphoma or ibd. She changed his antibiotic and said lets see what this one does. Went back after it was finished which was last week. She brought up the US again. I told her i can't do $600-$800 this month. I said next month I can. She then tells me the other doctor in office is really good with US and the cost is $125-$295 vs the cost at the ER. I asked who reads them. The Dr reads them and if questionable they will send it to be read. They will start with Rapid scan and if something show up then proceed to full ultrasound. This I can do. Tux is scheduled early December. He is eating well now. This last ab seemed to work really well and or the kenalog they gave. He still has his days of not eating much but he comes around. I started tapering the bupre for last week he is getting 1/2 dose once a day. Today we will start every other day. He was playing and running Sunday but yesterday he just laid around and his side hurt. Today he is better.

If you do the etube you will want one of these to keep in place and easy to change the dressing. There are cheaper ones on ebay and probably amazon so shop.

Running to the food bowl is good! Definitely watch out for Ondansetron. It is great for nausea BUT causes constipation (and you are already having trouble with that). So you may have to up your anti-constipation game!

Yes, thanks
He pooped out a lil turdlet today.
I have been giving 1/4 tsp restoralax for last two days. Will add a big pinch more tomorrow.

Hi, thank you for your thoughts.
The etube is looking better and better as I get opinions here. It makes me less afraid. I am going to decide tomorrow depending on if the new anti nausea works at all.
He is starting to gag and drool whenever we put him on the bed where we do syringe feeding and meds. This is a bad sign and I think he is going to develop a food aversion if we keep this up.
What is ab and kenolog?
Tansi is not on an antibiotic, do you think he should be?
Ultrasounds are ridiculously expensive.
I am not going to focus on anything but getting him to eat for now. If I do the food tube, I will see if they can do it then though.
I am really glad that your kitty is doing so well.
Will look at the collars. I already saw that kitty kollar website. My vet said this site would explain all the details of etubes and that I could get all my information there. Then it turns out to be for just the collars. Maybe she has shares in the company haha.
Thanks, have a great evening.

Ab/antibiotic he got 3 weeks was metronidazole

Metronidazole (brand name Flagyl®) is an oral antibacterial and antiprotozoal agent used in the treatment of certain anaerobic bacterial and protozoal infections.

He got convenia x3 two weeks apart from each other. I didn't like that and he wasn't getting better.

Kenalog is a steroid anti-inflammatory. Vet didn't want to use cerenia because his liver was affected.

The first 6 weeks he was treated he wasn't getting better. His liver values were getting worse.

Then he was given the 2 drugs above and at his next 2 week check his labs were all normal.

Tansi will come around. I think the etube is a good choice. It will help take the stress off him and you. Won't have to struggle to get meds or food in.

Ok thank you for the info.
Wow 6 weeks, and he got better, thst sure gives me some optimism. We are at 2 weeks here.
Goodnight, have a great evening.
