Those of you that have helped previously with Kitty Boo, I thought I would give you an update.

Kitty Boo's sugars have been running great at 1 unit 2 times a day...at 9:00 AM and PM

His mornings are running between 50 and 100 and his evenings running 80's to lower 100's.

I have his feeding down too as to how much he can eat and when. He is doing very well and I pray that he continues this healthy BS and he is playing with his brother, and sleeping and his bathroom is doing well too.

Please review his BS chart and give us some feedback...Kitty Boo is looking for his prompts.

Hi Emma

Kitty is doing great.

Is there any way you could get any mid cycle readings? I am a newbie but it seems to me that is you are ending up with such low pre shot numbers then kitty could be going lower during her mid cycles. Without monitoring past pre shot you aren't going to know if she earned a reduction because she went below 50 and also whether she needs help getting her numbers up if they do go below 50.

I know it is hard to fit in more tests but even if you could get a +1 or +2 it would help but ideally now that she is running in the greens I would also try for some +4s and +6s. Would that be possible.

I have a feeling she might have earned a reduction but hopefully someone like Mel will come along and help you more there.

The thing is, I have had a hard time with Kitty Boo and recently I switched him to Levimer. The Ndar on it is right before his 12 feedings...so I don't have to worry about him dropping lower mid cycle. With Lantus, I had a hard time because of that mid cycle drop. I also feed him at +5 during the day...and he is good at his night time feeding/testing.

Keeping him at 1 unit every 12 hours, with his feeding and feeding at 2:00 in the afternoon and I also set him a small feeding during the night at about + 6...this is helping to keep him stabilized. He is perfect now and stable...so unless he bounces (which he hasn't for quite sometime) and even if I wake and he is in the 30's it is because I forgot to sit food out for the late night feeding. When a low morning happens, he is ok as long as I feed him..and then give him his shot...he comes right out of the low now, and it doesn't bounce because he still gets his shot...shooting when they are low takes a lot of experience, but with Kitty Boo, he would bounce real high if I didn't.

With the Lev having such a delayed nadir (near pre-shot), it helps you spot it before giving more insulin. Sounds like you've got it worked out!

At least weekly, though, do get some mid-cycle tests to make sure the whole cycle is stable and unchanging.

What you have to remember is that when you cat is in the greens there pancreas maybe healing and therefore beginning to need less insulin. I guess this is why the protocol that says to drop by 0.25 if they go less than 50 exists. It takes that into account. If I had left my cat remi at the dose I first saw him go into the greens he would have been in deep trouble.

Having said that I don't know levimer or if the protocol is different so maybe I am wrong but I still think that you would be able to regulate kitty if you dropped the dose. When I.first did it I was worry that remi's reduction wouldn't hold but after a few days it settles, you want to avoid thinking that just because it didn't work when you are raising the dose they will never be regulated when you go back to it. If it doesn't hold you just increase again. I am just worried that you Arne leaving any margin for error.

Maybe mel can give more advice as she is used to lev
