I am fairly certain that Carl is not going to announce his own birthday today..... so I thought I would.

It's always good to celebrate the people we appreciate and care about. And Carl is definitely one of them.... :-D

Thank you everyone! For the wishes, the cakes and the pics! And Marje, my heart melted when I saw the pic of Gussie. :YMHUG:

It was a pretty good day. I didn't have to work, as this was my "Veteran's Day" Holiday (since I had to work the holiday). I spent the afternoon at a fantastic shelter called the Palmetto Animal League. I donated all the cat food I had in the house, and litter, and some unused toys. And spent a couple of hours with about 50 kitties that are up for adoption. It felt awesome to have a few of them come up and sit on my lap and it was fun to play with kittens. Just felt really good to hand out the love and get back ten times in return. I'm not ready for another one yet, but this was a great experience. I also volunteered to do any camera work they might need done, and they said they could use some help with pictures when they hold fundraising events, so we'll see what happens. And I wore my "Feline Diabetes dot com" T-shirt and the first question I asked was "Do you have any diabetic cats?" :-D (they didn't although they did have one Cushing's cat)

Then I went out for Mexican and per birthday tradition, ate a Burrito that's bigger than my head. This place called it the "Mucho Grande Burrito" and it pretty much was... ;-)

Sorry to be late Carl, but it sounds like an absolutely delightful way to spend a birthday, covered in kitty loves and eating mexican food. Happy day after Birthday!! party_cat
 
Belated birthday wishes Carl. I'm glad you had a good day. It must have been very rewarding to share some love with the kitties at the shelter. They must have felt very special. I hope you get to photograph some for their fundraisers.

The burrito sounds awesome! Have a great day.

I can't think of a better way to spend your birthday this year than to be surrounded by 50 kitties that need your love and attention! I'm sure they enjoyed it as much as you did! The photography for the kitties sounds like a wonderful - and very beneficial - project... we all know you've got the skill to capture beautiful scenery and turtles, so capturing playful kitties should be even more fun!

I'm intrigued that they have a Cushings kitty. Did you get the scoop on how they were caring for it? We've only had a couple in the FB Acro/Cushings group.

Glad to hear you got out and enjoyed yourself.

Oh - Carl - I'm SO sorry I missed your birthday!!!! Been in full Operation Christmas Child mode at my house and haven't had a minute to check in. It sounds like you had a grande day! :cool: I know the kitties welcomed the attention; I'm sure when you're ready there'll be LOTS of kitties who'd love to call you dad :-D
