claudia i'm just going to throw this out there. i've seen cats who are not on insulin with this type of curve a few times. cat's who are testing before they start shooting. it's the natural cycle even for untreated diabetics. a very shallow curve.
actually i only bring this up in case it IS the insulin and i got to thinking if you bought that insulin from the vet and it was bad should'nt he replace it? or if you actually called the pz company and asked for a test vial to be sent to you as you think it's bad insulin.
or, and here is a dicey proposition. what if you took one of your non-diabetic furries and gave them a micro dose...test first, then test @ +3 or 4, all the while have your high carb out. just to see how it affects them. i think that is resonable. anyone?

ugh. I hate to say it, but these numbers are discouraging me a bit. We thought we had made some progress. But now nothing. Just these flat numbers all day.

Lori- I am almost out of insulin, so I actually went to buy a fresh vial today. I can crack that open tomorrow and see if it helps. I don't think I want to shoot my civie because she's...how do you guys say it...fractious? She would tear me to bits trying to test her.

LOL ummm, fractious. i know the type.
don't get discouraged claudia...i know easier said than done. this will all work itself out. some times quickly sometimes slowly. i do not think you should try the new vial with out being prepared to test, midcycles. can you imagine if your insulin was weak or damaged what we may see?
and if it was,,,,you can let the vet or the company know that.
a human certainly would'nt tolerate haven taken bad insulin for months without a complaint.

Fortunately no big plans tomorrow, so I can test all day. Thursday dh will be able to watch him while I go out on a play date.

Hmmm...no I wouldn't test on a civvie. Just me. I wouldn't think it right.

Anyway looks like we'll see this new vial tomorrow morning. We questioned it earlier :?:

So let's just see where we head off to in the morning.

Hopefully Attie will behave himself and I won't have my hands full with him...

O....stinker, stinker, stinker ....a few days now....

In the pink. Quite a boring day with his numbers. Maybe tomorrow will be more interesting with the new vial of pz.

oh you'll be in for some excitement sooner or later. and when it comes you might miss the boring day

since you are starting a new vial, it's a great time to
-check the fridge temp- aiming for around 39 degrees. I actually found a little mercury thermometer I keep next to the vial.
-make a "safe place" in a vege drawer. I taped a small box to the side of the drawer to keep the insulin box in. Avoid the door of the fridge - it gets a lot of jiggling and temp fluctuations
-keep the insulin in its little box as much as possible- protect from light
- I usually stick a cotton ball in the bottom of the insulin box ( in case I "set it down" too hard  )

I don't want too much excitement...just gradual building levels if excitement.

Good tips, Nancy! I'll check the temp tomorrow. I do keep it in the box, but it's a good idea to tape the box down so it never tips over. I keep it toward the back...my veggie drawers are jam packed with veggies all the tome, so I can't use those. Thanks!!

I've used a wireless thermometer - like on you set outside. But I had that on hand for brewing beer so I could monitor the temp of the fermenting. They can be pretty cheap though. Anyway, the temp will vary in a range. You just don't ever want it to freeze and a good average temp is 39 or 40F. I converted the butter cage to the meds cage.

I can't wait to see Lori and deliver my leftover ProZinc to her - I'll finally be able to turn the temp in the fridge down for REALLY cold beer. :-D

Beer...i think ive had 2 or 3 in the last 23 months. Babies sure put a stop to that. I thought home brewers had a separate fridge for their brews.... A food fridge and a beer fridge!
