Went with the increase today. I wonder if his liver's gonna panic again? Poor guy was so upset yesterday (both kitties were). They're feeling much better today.

Don't panic. He may experience a panicky liver. It's going to happen, unfortunately. We've all been through it, or are going through it. :) Nice AMPS, regardless! You're doing great!

it is very likely he'll use the bungie cord again again once he gets a good number.. and unless the nadir falls under 80 or if the ps in under 300 i think you should stick with this dose until he gives us a reason not to.
personally even if the nadir were to go as low as 60 i would stick with dose but that might make you nervous...so if he hits 80 you can just shave .1 off the dose since the dose at that point would be near perfect. if you feel the need to shave it at all.

+5:339 (before meal)

Yeah, not too shabby for the amps, but now...blah. Maybe he's just dropping really slow today. I'll test again at +6 or so to see if he's going to go any lower.

Edit:
+6:359 (1 hour after meal). I think that's all the tests for today...I don't think we're gonna see any great numbers. Maybe tomorrow will be yellower, or bluer!

I obviously couldve missed something since I only did 2 midday tests, but it doesn't look like he had much movement today.

Could be bounce from a panicky liver and could be the stress from yesterday too. Give a few days to settle in at this dose.

He has had some excitement to contend with.

Are you lovin' your new windows?

i bet he was just reliving the nightmare of those strange men in his house tearing out windows and making all that noise. that alone is good for a 100 point bg rise.

I didn't realize that stress can affect his bg for so long. Maybe tomorrow will be lower then. I'm hoping to see some real progress on this dose.

The windows look great! Our old ones were original to our 56 year old house, so they look so clean and bright!

lol TomTom is the quintessential stress kitty - got all lathered up over another puss out his window. Was a good lesson for me that stress - even things we would not find stressful - can have an effect on BGs. Lori was about to get out the 30-30 under her bed and blow a horse sized hole in that poor little feral kitty. ;-) Luckily she got it trapped and eventually re-homed.

good memory gator! yep those stressers can definetly elevate #'s.
and gator the time tom's bg's really hit the roof was when that little puss outside came in when i was'nt home and commited a home invasion on tom. blood and fur everywhere. tom hobbled around for days. and that was the first and only time i for one minute thought i wanted to shoot a cat!
btw, after neutering he became the shelter favorite and was adopted in less than a month. prior to adoption they loved him so much they let him roam the shelter and visit his 'girlfriend' at the end of the hall..

well he never had a chance to. he got rehomed hopefully far enough away.
the really hard part was that tom had for the first time met his match. he had NEVER lost a fight before. all the boy cats feared and respected him. this mere kitty kicked tom's arse. and badly. tom was scared and his pride was badly damaged. we are still dealing with the emotional scars.
he's never been truly brave again.

Good lesson that there's always a bigger fish out there to meet punishment if bully is your business. Mr. T here got clipped too late in life [3 or 4 years old] and is permanently aggressive - he's way too aggressive for his own good and I'm sure will unfortunately meet his match someday. And it keeps him from integrating with the rest of the kitties here and be the indoor kitty he really wants to be. :YMSIGH:

well gator just so you know..tom is really not aggressive. he's protective of his territory. he does'nt go looking for trouble and he's really not a bully, really. he is sweet and polite. he won't tolerate male cats on his land that's all.
i don't think he would tangle with a girl cat. altho' when they come around he kind of ignores them whilst they stretch out in front of him offering themselves up to him. if they get too much in his face he'll maybe swipe them.
does that make him bad? i hope not. i NEVER considered him a bully, but a strong brave guy cat.
wuvs him.

I think my point was that boy cats seem to lose perspective easily. When Mr. T showed up on the scene here it caused problems for the other male [neutered] Coon cat here [bloody urine yikes!] and major vet bills. The whole alpha cat get's schooled thing. Anyway, IMHO male cats are surprisingly susceptible to stress of other males being around.

I wonder if it's just an outdoor-boy-cat thing? Charlie is strictly indoors and is so passive with other cats around the yard. I put him in the window and tell him to hiss at the cats who wander into my yard to eat my mice and birds, and ge just looks at them and walks away. He couldn't care less. He's a bit of a wimp, though.

Klinger is an indoor cat for the most part. He is allowed (with supervision) to go in our fenced in patio area. He likes to swat the other male kitties through the fence. On two occasions, if a male cat has had the nerve to jump the fence into our patio, KIinger has busted out the screen door to defend his territory.

it's funny. i hate fighting and violence of any kind....but i always admired tomtom's bravery.
it was like i had no doubt he would be willing to fight to the death (altho' i ALWAYS tried to break up the bowling ball of two cats balled up into one) but he was always so good about letting me dress his wounds and carry him around since after a fight he was too wiped outto walk. i would bring his dinner to him in bed! LOL

OH OH OH i saw that on the news last night. notice the cat did'nt even flash out his fur to look bigger. BOS! but i don't like that the family was so ready to let that cat be lunch for the gator if it went the other way. i would have scooped tom away, i mean they did'nt seem to care very much....and fwiw, who stands around like that when a bunch of gators hit land....they must be quite used to it.
you gotta love a cat with BOS

Cat vs. Gator - sounds familiar

That was a very large gator and a really silly cat.

I sure wish I could get Mr. T neutered again.

I don't know it seems these cats are campground cats/feral felines. But yes indeed ...BOS.
