Re: 11/15 B the C AMPS:567, PMPS:HI, +3:414
Frustrated and sad here with B...
She was home today, and looks like her 1 unit did very little for her. Checked in with the vet because she was "HI" for her AM +11, and had only eaten about half her normal (as of late) amount during the day.
I brought her in briefly so they could again give her 1 unit of fast-acting/Humulin (I think we've decided it is R) in addition to her 1 unit of Lantus.
As you can see, it really isn't even bringing her down to a good level. She has a small amount of ketones (and the vet tested her during the fast-acting shot and said the same). So she'll be going in tomorrow for more fluids/fast-acting. Meanwhile, she isn't feeling good, and we had a scary episode where she needed to have a BM and kind of collapsed. What she passed wasn't hard, and she recovered after a few scary minutes, so we are watching. Unless things get very dire I really don't want to bring her to emerg again -- I want to stick with our regular vet, who has the history and knows us.
I don't know about this connection with her BMs, and am going to ask more questions. She has had an ultrasound recently, but I wonder if it would have caught her colon or if something might be going on there.
Meanwhile, I'm just getting really scared about all the ketones and spiky BG levels. I am worried she is getting near the end. It can't be good that we can't get her ketones/BG settled. The thing is, she isn't consistently poorly...the other day she was seeming on the mend, more energetic, more herself. This up and down is really hard on all of us. Up would be great, and we could deal with the horrors of down. She has multiple health issues, and they are hard to balance, and I know it makes things difficult because they play off each other. And she is not young. I just want to do what's best for her and I'm not sure what that is, and I hate it.
