Another long day here...

Attie continues to provide a food fit and will only eat the FF fish for now. He seems even more congested.
Radiology confirmed there is a low suspicion of lung cancer and what he see's is pneumonia/bronchitis. If it doesn't start to clear up by Thursday with the Clavamox Attie will need to get steroids. Vet says the inhaled type will have the least systemic affect on his diabetes. And ...what has to be ...has to be in this case. He is pretty bad off.

Radiology also noted a nodule on Attie's spleen that once we're over this bout of pneumonia, will need to be ultra-sounded. Vet says this is a regenerative thing often seen in older cats and is likely benign, but should be monitored. If suspicious, then they will remove his spleen.

Attie does not like the humidifer ohmygod_smile . He insists on sitting as far away from it as he can. . So, I have it running in my tiny bathroom with the door closed. When it is 'steamy' enough I'll drop him in there for his 20-30 minute treatment.

I hope the abs kick in and do the job quickly so Attie can get back to being Attie. Hoping the spleen thing turns out to be nothing.

Kazi ended up needing a steroid injection to get her over the hump of a URI last month. I was incredibly hesitant to do it but it really helped her to feel better starting about 24 hours after the shot. It didn't affect her BG nearly as much as I would have expected...maybe for a week or so slightly higher numbers. But that could easily have been because she went a week without insulin. I hope Atlas feels better soon...I know I was a mess when Kazi was sick. Kazi doesn't sound like she had it nearly as bad as Atlas - her congestion was all in her nose, but man was she MISERABLE so I can only imagine what he feels like! Are you adding Lysine to his food? Not sure if it really helped Kazi, but it didn't hurt.

Sending lots of feel-better vines to Attie this evening. I hope the meds work out and that the spleen thing is nothing to worry about. Hang in there, Beth. We're thinking good thoughts!
