and its a nice low yellow for atlas this morning! Hoping he comes down nice and slow for you, with no bouncing back to the reds or pinks ... have a great day guys!

Last few days he has been bouncing all over the place. Pinks, Reds, and even blacks. I hit the full range of colors the other day?

I am wondering if 2.5u is too much.... confused_cat

Instead of kibble to you have any high carb food with gravy...or you can add karo to low carb. The kibble will take too long to get into the system and too long to clear.

We did HC back at the 99...

He's turning his nose up at it now.

So...I tried karo over kibble...pancakes. He ate some...not enough.

Just syringed 1ml karo directly.

Gotta get him to eat...

The Karo should bring him up. If he won't eat the food that is ok....you can also syringe just the gravy.
Retest in 15 minutes.

I would retest in 30 minutes. That is the Karo spike you are seeing.
Try to give Atlas a litte bit of lc now to keep him from dropping again.

Nope. He won't eat just yet.

Course it is difficult when the choice is venison or venison...

I think I'll try some parmesan on top.

Looks like the bounce is underway...

Yeah...he gets either

EVO 95% Venison

or

Californian Natural Venison...16% carb.

We were headed to the store today to hunt up some Nature's Variety frozen Raw...

Maybe head out a little later...

looks like we're going to go searching for pearls...

edit: Ok...we're going for the fish and karo, it'll be a set back for his other issues but we need this to stabilize today.

Does Atlas have food allergies? My kitty does too. Duck is his favorite, although not my wallet's favorite.

We presume it is allergies. Duck didn't seem to help at all. Venison has seen some improvement, and today I just sprung for some Nature's Variety Rabbit.

Otherwise we will be off to see a specialist and I can't afford that right now.

My sympathies. Mine has presumed allergies; eliminating wheat and corn helped. He didn't care for venison much. Unfortunately the canned food he's eating now (Wellness turkey, which contains chicken and many vegetables) has his skin in a flare-up; apparently he's allergic to one of the zillions of ingredients. I tried feeding him some canned food with fewer ingredients (by Nature Turkey), but he didn't like it. I'm going to end up bathing him with cortisone shampoo, with heavens-knows what affect on his diabetes. Sigh.

Have you tried chlorphen antihistamine? We did that for Attie when he came up allergic to metrodiazonole.

You can get chlorphen OTC and use 1/4 tab. twice a day.

whew! I guess Atlas is done with this dose. He could have let you know in a more subtle manner. :roll:

One thing you can do to make some effort at cutting the bounce is to shoot early tonight. Of course that puts you off schedule, but getting the insulin in a little early won't hurt and might give it a chance to start working before he takes off for the moon. If you're doing that, I would go ahead and take the dose reduction tonight.

He does seem to clear the bounces quickly, which is great progress from where he was before.

Yeah...I think this 2.5u BID stuff is done for now. Dropped back to 2.25u.

I was able to slip out though and get some food. Picked up the Nature's Variety Raw Rabbit. So far he seems to like anything "raw" I put in front of him....

Hi Libby...we had a diving and surfing party today! Essie, Mannie, Attie all had a wonderful time today. :lol:

I've learned with Attie, if he is headed toward 100 he is headed for the deep sea pearls. You know we switched to Lantus thinking we might be able to 'cut' some of that craziness. I was wondering if he was diving and I was just missing it. Guess so. Who would have thought in a half hour he'd drop 40 points like he did and then boing! Of course with some help from Mom, but I really wonder if I just happened to "catch it" this time.

Well we've got a pink floor for now and I would have thought he would have bounced hard earlier than this. It will be interesting to see if he just climbs on up...or we mitigated things fast enough.

Well, if you look at his SS, one might conclude he was letting me know....but I didn't and had not caught it until today. See those funky HI black spots the last few days...? My first post today wondered if something was up...er...down. If Lantus can't stop these flash drops...then what? Or now what?
