I hope you see more improvement today. If the mirtazapine isn’t working you might want to try cyproheptadine, (periactin) It’s a human antihistamine commonly used as an appetite stimulant for cats. I’ve used it successfully for all my cats that were inappetent and it worked well it can be given twice a day. They have a similar drug in Canada. When Max first got pancreatitis he got ondansetron and cyproheptadine every morning and night. More recently I learned that Zyrtec allergy does the same and it worked for Max and Mocha.

Great
Tomorrow when I get the butre refill, I will ask for the ondesteron and cyproheptadine. The Mirataz is not cutting it. I'm disappointed because I used it on my IBD cat Bill and it worked almost instantly.
Have a lovely day Elise

The mirtz isn't going to help until the nausea is treated. Did you run out if bupre? If he seems in pain give him some of you have it.

When you pick more up, ask vet to give more because you can't keep running in to get it. If won't give you 30 day supply ask for 2 weeks at least.

You need ondansteron and cerenia (which also helps with inflammation).

Still have enough bupre till monday am. Will try to get longer prescription.
And yes on ondesterone , planning on it!
Thanks so much.

He is so sick today.
He has both pain meds on board but still making the pain eyes. Sitting in the same place for hours. He is pretty limp, hopefully that's just the meds.
I don't knowcwhat else to do.

Sorry Tansi is feeling so poorly. :( When Ruby went through her bouts of inappetence before starting pred, I had her on ondansetron 3x per day dosing 6 hours apart, Cerenia once a day, and cyproheptadine as needed. Ondansetron and Cerenia work very well together and getting at the nausea is key. I avoided mirtazapine as Ruby was very sensitive to it and it caused some weird behaviors.

I also put a smidge of slippery elm powder into her food or mixed it with aloe and made a little gummy ball that I would pop or swipe into her mouth. It helps with nausea and got her to eat.

Cerenia alone is not cutting it clearly. It’s so hard when inappetent. I don’t understand why ondansetron isn’t used more often in Canada and why it’s so expensive. Of course insulin is expensive here. I know you plan to ask for it tomorrow. Make sure you get enough to dose 3 times a day. The pills are 4mg that you cut probably in half.

I am feeling kind of scared.
Tansi is so poorly.
He will not look at food.
He has pain eyes and whiskers back.
He is limp, like when I put him down, he goes down to his side instead of standing.
Is this typical? I have the new meds ordered, I am hoping to get them tomorrow.
He seems to be getting worse not better.

I've not had Mr Kitty feel that poorly, I'm sorry I have no advice :/ I'm not sure what they'd do for you at the vet besides maybe some extra pain meds and possible feeding tube?

The meds really are the magic cocktail to get them through it. Have you been able to check ketones?

Yes, no ketones thank god.
I was thinking the same about the vet, plus all the additional stress. But then I think well what if he has something else too? He just lays there and isnt even sleeping, just staring into space.
I might make a scene at the vet, idk
Hahahaha
They were giving me the crap today about waiting three days for a prescription to be filled and I know damn well they can just give me whatever I need from emerg for a fee.
The syringe feeding is going pretty well now. He hates it but it's a smooth operation at least.

He may need to be hospitazed longer. See how he is in tge morning. Many cats spend a week in the hospital with acute pancreatitis. Some need a temporary feeding tube. I was lucky Max didn’t have it so bad. He never spent more than a night at my vet. I’d call the vet in the morning if there isn’t improvement. :bighug: Prayers for big improvement overnight.

OH my. I am very worried about Tansi. I'll be looking for an update this morning after you speak with your vet or take Tansi into the vet. I don't know what time zone you are on though -- so not sure when to look. I'm on Eastern.
