Good morning all
And thank you for all your support and uplifts to lighten one of my less than better days yesterday. Sun's out and have almost finished morning kitty routines before heading out with Azalea to the eye specialist (and this will be her first ever long drive in car...).

Sootie was up and at 'em at the top of stairs this morning.
Amps 217, not ideal, but could be worse. She's eating a bit. So gonna do skinny .025 u in a few minutes.
Azalea and I will be gone most of day. Leaving instructions and food at the ready for DH to give Sootie at noontime and ca 3-4pm if we're not home by mid-afternoon.

Crossing paws for easy day for Sootie, good news for azalea and....that she will be nicely nice to the doctor! Bringing all her eye drops, remedies, supplements and.....rescue remedy being applied a la Leslie's magic method.

Thanks Carla. Yes hope so too, putting out MC for DH to give just in case. He's not one to ear prick but knows her well enough to see if she's not herself. And to offer fud, etc.
crossing paws Sootie will be even. Didn't want her to skip another dose and the 217 amps did not seem to be fud or stress influenced.

Muchos gracias! We are in waiting room now. Azalea had a curled up snooze during ride here.
 
Azalea and I about 1/2 way home. Stopped to stretch legs and give us both a little break from highway traffic speeds (am trying to be good doobie speed limit -wise ;)).

Liked the specialist and see why vetty recommended him. Very calm, gentle voiced, very unpretentious knows his stuff and ... wears birks!
Staff very gentle and soft voiced, all healping in the calm-azalea support.

Azalea pretty darn good girl during exam. And I was able to stay in room with her and them.

We talked, discussed options etc. he's talking with vetty this afternoon.

Looks like the lens has pushed itself forward (the vertical attachments having deteriorated), causing pressure on the cornea, severe glaucoma and swelling present back of eye. Corneal ulcerations; and looks like something (I don't remember name of it, will check report when home) that can be a rare cancer unique to the lens might be present.

Resuming Onsior pan med for three days, three new kinds of eye drops, bid, tid and qid depending on the drop.

Recheck next Monday to see if the drops help. Long shot but I felt better to try than to jump to removal. He didn't think one week was going to put her at increased risk. The recheck is on a surgery day. If no improvement and deemed best to remove eye, she's on the surgery roster for that morning. If improved, no surgery and continue with rechecks etc.

Think azalea tired and hungry. Hoping Sootie ok. DH not answering phone (probably doesn't have 'his ears' on).

Sina~ hugs hugs and hugs :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug: Your head must be spinning with all the meds and trying to keep them straight. I understand about trying a long shot but I am sure the specialist told you how very painful the glaucoma is and from what I understood from Bubba's eye doc enucleation is the only treatment. Bubba can be her support system through this ( and me ) I know how very upsetting it is. Before Bubba's surgery, I would wake up in the middle of the night heart pounding and in a cold sweat. When it came down to it, he recovered so nicely.

My homeopath told me prior to the surgery to rub Traumeel all around the orbital area to help with swelling. He hardly even had any! If your interested , I can send a post op picture hours after the surgery. I was amazed. The Bup kept him fairly comfy and they load them up with pain meds before they even leave the office.

I'm sorry the report wasn't better for Azalea's eye. Hopefully the drops will make a difference. It sounds like a very nice place with good people. Sending prayers. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Yes head spinning and worried.

Once home with Azalea and her settling in (waiting a bit to start new eye drops, eat some and tx the first Onsior tab),

Tested Sootie's bg. At +7 was 252 and a few minutes later 256! :facepalm: Turns out DH decided to feed her both the back up higher carb FF chunks with gravy AND the wellness chicken chunks every 15 minutes from 11:30 til about 2pm :banghead:! Sootie must have been really happy: no ear pricks and non-stop un-slurry food fest. Whether he inadvertently helped to prevent a dive, don't know. But she sure was not happy about me resuming ear pricks!

Yes, the Dx's of azalea consult and options presented the kind of whammy that you think you're prepared for until...it is in real time. The prospect of, here's its name: feline primary ocular sarcoma...added yet another dimension of concerns.

I'm meeting with regular vet tomorrow to discuss the specialist's exam and recommendations when bringing azalea in for fluids and B12. He has said that he could do eye removal surgery if comes to that but....I think I'd rather have specialist do it and have vetty on board for after care support and if any complications that need to be attended to pdq, in less time than it takes to travel to specialist. Team effort.

Azalea's 18 years old, tiny kitty anyway ....barely 6 pounds and has been borderline renal her entire adult life. Whether the specialist, after viewing her most recent lab work, thinks she is a candidate for surgery is tbd.

Bobbie, yes I'd like to see bubba's post op photos and understand more about Bubba's eye situation. Re the traumeel: the ointment? I do have a tube of it.

I'm contacting the homeopathic vets with latest update and see if change of remedies now in order as well as pre-op and post-op just in case.

Good news is that Azalea's left eye good on all counts.

I think time for this bean to have a little nappy. Yes I do remember Romper Room! But I don't remember if graham crackers, milk and little nap were part of the de riguer (spelling?) . Sure was in nursery school and with little blankies!

Back to the routines after the day's adventure with azalea at the eye specialists.

Dh with azalea now, I'm sure enjoying one of their fave pastimes: azalea head butting DH's bearded chin.

Sootie's pmps (at 7:15pm ET): 171 :cool:
What difference a few hours makes considering the +7 numbers (perhaps mostly fud influenced?).

Thinking of holding dose at skinny 0.25u tonight. Make sense? Other?
Ideal shoot window ca 8pm Et.

Sorry your DH fed the HC food. At least he was trying to help keep Sootie safe. I'd say her numbers were higher from the HC food. I think you're safe to keep giving the skinny 0.25 dose.

ETA: now Sootie's totally spoiled from DH's carb loads! She's eating the boring stuff now but only with it piled high with crumbles of FD. Better to eat then not. But she gave me a look...like he should be feeding her more often!

They do get spoiled to the good stuff quickly.
