Re: 11/14 PurrFace AMPS 231

Hi John, well I hope PurrFace listened intently to your lecture. PurrFace, time to come down on a nice slide. I bet in no time he will get back on track. They like to keep us guessing. Have a nice day.

Re: 11/14 PurrFace AMPS 231

Good morning Peter and Ann. Thank you for the words of encouragement. I was visiting condos this morning and read in one that their kitty tends to eat more when they get into the higher numbers. When I read that a light came on. PurrFace has been "asking" for more food the last 2 or 3 feed times. We are giving him a bit more but this morning I noticed the tow civvies left some of their breakfast and he finished it for them so he is getting a bit more than we realized. Prior to getting diabetes he was close to 18 pounds, overweight by around 4 pounds, so a small part of his problem staying in the blue/green numbers might be our fault. As he got back to his "normal" self we've been letting him dictate the agenda. Talked with the DW and have agreed to keep his food amount for a day to where it was when he was in the greens. I hope that will get him back on track. If not we'll make whatever adjustment is needed. Everyone in LL has put to much effort into getting him to this point to let him slip backwards.

Thank you all for visiting his condo. It's really is great to hear from everyone. Have a great day!

Hey PurrFace, my dear, GET down from there sweetheart.

Hi John,
I'm sure this is just that PurrFace pressed the wrong button on the elevator and got off on the wrong floor. Hope he gives your his real numbers right quick

Have a great day

Re: 11/14 PurrFace AMPS 231

Hi John & PurrFace,

To my eyes (not expert eyes, but eyes!) this looks like a bounce--the kind of delayed bounce that can happen after a string of low numbers (see his numbers on 12 November). Perhaps give him a little more time at this dose before taking him up again. New doses need time to adjust, and if a bounce is involved, even more time. PurrFace has been literally skipping down the dosing scale. He may need to catch his breath! I hope that someone who is more knowledgeable will comment.

Hope you are having a good day,

Ella & Rusty

p.s. I don't know about the food thing. ECID. It may be that kitties who have an appetite problem may be better eaters when they are in somewhat higher numbers, but it has also been observed that some kitties who are dropping too low are very eager to eat and will demand to be fed. They "know' that they must eat to bring up their blood sugar.

Re: 11/14 PurrFace AMPS 231

Hi John

I think Ella has pretty good eyes and this looks a little bouncy to me but time will tell. PF clears his bounces pretty quickly. We do need to keep an eye on these numbers and if they persist more than a couple cycles, I'd probably call it a failed reduction and take him back up but let's go one step at a time and see what he's going to do today.

Gracie also seems hungrier when her numbers are up.....she is always on the kitchen counter   poor baby girl. I know we aren't starving her. She also will eat voraciously if her numbers are down really low. If her numbers are in lovely, greens above 40, she seems satiated food wise. So it's always tough for us to know when she's sitting on the counter if she has dropped or if she is way up there like she has been the last couple of days. I typically hold her food allotments to what they should be and then just give her some freeze dried chicken treats or some boiled chicken breast just to appease her without adding alot of carbs or calories. Baby Girl has to keep her svelte figure

Re: 11/14 PurrFace AMPS 231

Hi John, Hope PurrFace takes your words to heart and clears his bounce and comes back down for you. He raced down the scale and maybe got ahead of himself in pursuit of his mission. Mike and Bj did something like that back in August and they had regroup for a while before getting back on track. Let PurrFace know ECID, it will take as long as it takes, and there are patience pants for kitties too.

Re: 11/14 PurrFace AMPS 231

Hi
I have certainly seen red not being so hungry since his numbers are lower. I could have throttled him jumping up on the kitchen work top, where he knows very well he is not allowed to be, constantly!! I even started water spraying in his direction. I know now it was not his fault and he has forgiven me for my strictness, I hope.
Good luck with PF.
I hope he comes down nicely for you soon, and thanks for all your great encouragement you have given Red.
Kath

First I want to thank everyone that stopped by the condo today. After the AMPS # and giving PurrFace his lecture about getting back down to where he needs to be I thought it would be a good time to do a little more fishing. No need to worry since he is in the yellow. So with grandson in tow off I go. About +4 my DW calls and tells me PurrFace's BG is 38. I told her that was nothing to be kidding about; she wasn't kidding. I could not believe that he dropped so low again. He is going to turn the 2 hairs I have left on my head gray!

Mary, I gave him another lesson on proper floor selection when he plays in the elevator.

Ella and Marje both of you have pretty good eyes. I guess PF decided to bounce just to see what we would do and then, like before, cleared it within a few hours. We have been giving him the freeze dried chicken treats but forgot to thaw out some more boiled chicken breast, but it's done now. That's 2 mistakes I made...#1-No +2/+3 test & #2 No boiled chicken ready. Neither will happen again!

Leslie, forget the patience pants for PurrFace, I need them. He sure can keep us on our toes.

Kath, I'm sure Red forgives you for spraying water in his direction when he wanted to eat. We didn't give PurrFace food every 10 minutes like he wanted before his dx either. Neither of us knew our kitties needed the food then but we do now and that's the important thing I guess. I'll bet Red doesn't even remember the incidences.

Thank you all for your input. It is so much appreciated.

P.S. No fishing tomorrow! (Caught my limit today, though, nice size ones too  )

Re: 11/14 PurrFace AMPS 231 +4/38 +4.5/61 +5.5/81 +7/97 +9.5

Sometimes, just to add to the drama, our kitties demonstrate a very clever maneuver: the high before the break. PurrFace demonstrated a perfect 10 on that move. And in case PF needed someone to show him just how to do it, take a look at Gabby tonight.

Well he stayed in the blue for the PMPS. I began writing the carb % on the side of every can so we know how much he is getting at any time. Don't know how helpful the info will be but I have it just in case I need it.

Sienne. You are so right about the high before the low. Gabby did do the same...a pink at PS and down to a blue at +2. Will we every figure them out :? ?

Hope everyone has a wonderful and restful evening and those of you in the far and middle east and elsewhere around the world (NZ & S. Africa) a wonderful and peaceful day.
