Re: 11/14 Maverick AMPS 138.6

Karrie, that's a pretty low PS for you and it may be a dropping number. I would start with a +1 and +2 so you can get an idea what direction Maverick is heading.

Re: 11/14 Maverick AMPS 138.6

Thanks Laurie - I will for sure. I'll post what we get.

I think he just wants to earn a dose decrease and get off this stuff. So he's going to make me work with testing. I have one test strip left for +2 - and then I'm going to do a quick run for more.

Re: 11/14 Maverick AMPS 138.6

Maverick is looking good! Nice low numbers..But dont be in a rush to get him off this stuff-Slow & steady wins here-Patience & consistancy!
That's what works!

Moonie was a mess when we first came on, couldnt walk well, hid all the time, ate a ton, peed a ton, had terrible dandruff, and neuropathy! Acted like a different cat!
All I did was pray for remission..which as you can see didnt happen(for us at least) But does happen for many many cats..
Now I am so glad she is well, happy & healthy..Things look so much better now.
Always look at the Whole cat!-- Be in a rush to see beautiful Coat again , doing old behaviors, eating normally, drinking normally, jumping, playing, the 5 P's...You can see when they feel better!
Hope Maverick gets there asap! You are doing a good Job-not to worry! It will all come together!

Re: 11/14 Maverick AMPS 138.6

Oh I'm not in a rush. Wish he'd slow down actually. He doesn't listen to me though. Just tells me to shut up and dish out the purebites chicken already.

I'm so happy to hear the success stories like Moonie! I think that is the best part of this board, of course along with so much support and the humour doesn't hurt. I laugh reading updates all the time.

Maverick was actually diagnosed fairly early. He was prediabetic earlier this year, we caught it because we weigh him often and saw a weight loss trend and brought him right away for blood work. So I've been monitoring his urine every few weeks. In September I noticed that he had a few days in a row of vomiting, some weight loss and did a urine dipstick - bam glucose. O I expect he was diabetic for about 2.5 months. August 27th his urine was negative for glucose. I tested October 10th and we found glucose. I should update his profile with this info? So for two weeks I changed his food hoping he'd go back, but he didn't. The vet visit week three confirmed diabetes via fructosamine. But there was a delay with treatment.

Re: 11/14 Maverick AMPS 138.6 +2 135 +4 109

I suspect its safe for me to go now. His nadir seems to be between 5 and 6 and he didn't have his normal big drops between AMPS and +2. Slow and steady today is good?

Re: 11/14 Maverick AMPS 138.6 +2 135 +4 109

Looking very good... I think you might be doing something right !! !!!!

Re: 11/14 Maverick AMPS 138.6 +2 135 +4 109

Not following my vets instructions and listening to you guys ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile Shaking in my boots about what to do about the vet thing too haha.

Re: 11/14 Maverick AMPS 138.6 +2 135 +4 109

You're doing great! Remember, Maverick is your cat, not the vet's cat. You hold the syringe, it's your decision. He is doing sooo well!

PMPS 156.6. Will do a 3 hour spot check? And then again at +5 if the number hasn't dropped too much.

He's been a little quieter than normal today. Seems that the more his insulin is working he's kind of chilling out. I wonder if the diabetes induced hunger drove him to be much more sociable prior to the insulin?

That sounds like a good plan. Nice cycle today! His SS is looking very pretty with all that blue!

Is this more like his behavior was prior to diagnosis?
