Yesterday's Condo (complete with a late night tale of sassing!)

AMPS was likely food inflated... apparently, someone went to bed without finishing his dinner, and while the bean was up stumbling around to the bathroom at +11 (aka 5am, ugh!), Willie chowed down. We headed btb after shot time, and now I'm trying to convince myself that every muscle in my body is not, in fact, on fire. Killer classes at the gym yesterday indeed! It's all good pain... the pain of accomplishing something good for you, but it's still pain!! :lol: :lol: :lol:

Supposed to be a gorgeous day here... sunny and 60. The neighborhoods are full of leaf piles, so I'll be hitting the freezer and maybe doing some quick baking in case Willie decides to entertain.

U herd de ladee!!! Leaf piles an' chillaxin!!! Dat OTJ partee for Mr. Tinkles haz me a bit beat, so I'z gonna hang on de patio. Hope eberrybuddy can join me! --Willie

uuuhhhh, guyz??? new mission!!! bean haz gone rogue!! brought home what she iz calling "little sister!!!" I'z gonna needz lots of help. I showed her who iz boss wif mah hisses, but I don't tink it enough!! Bean sez her name is Herbie. Like dat even a gurl name! Oh, an' apparently, she jumps ober baby gates, so now mah dumb bean haz lost her! We find her before de bean does, an' den we dump her in leaf pile!! Sound like plan?? I iz SOOOO mad!!! --Willie

Willie!!! You gots a new lil sista!!!! WOW!!!! Tobey already gots a crush on her!!! He just wants to be sure she is a girl wif a name like Herbie. I don't tink we should bury her in da leaf pile, Willie. She mights be LOTS of fun!! I didn't like Tobes at first but now he's my best buddy ever!

LOL Thanks, Marje! nothing like a sneeze to interrupt such a moment! :lol: :lol: :lol: I had seen pics of Herbie (fka Kiki) and other kitties with the rescue group at which she was being fostered from a facebook forward, so I put our pet carrier in the car and stopped by after church this morning. More on Herbie can be found here. She's 5 months old and is a rescue... she was actually dumped outside the petsmart where I adopted her when her owner had to move. She is very shy, but is such a sweetie. I feel badly because there was another kitty, Bitsey, who was just sweet as could be, but i was concerned she might be a bit too rambunctious for Willie.

I think she is still in the spare room... I was in there a bit ago and heard her purring, but haven't found her just yet. :shock: :oops: ohmygod_smile Willie is mad because that is "his" room, so he has been skulking around muttering to himself, but has now joined me on the bed for some pets. I just hope the adjustment goes smoothly... need to get the feliway from the car!!

Lucky Herbie! She won the lottery. I don't think Willie seemed too upset. Herbie came out of the carrier right in front of him. She could have jumped out the other end. :smile: I read somewhere that 90% of orange kitties are male so Herbie is very special.

Hey Willie, my pal, you've got your work cut out for you. Your mamabean expects you to be nice to that little kitty. I know that it won't be easy having a little sister, but you can do it man! (I'm glad I don't have to do it!). I'm coming over to your place tomorrow and we can grill some hot dogs. And later in the week you and the gang can visit me in the city. You can leave Herbie at home!!! OK?

She's a cutie. I hadn't heard most orange cats are male. Paisley is also orange. Definitely female.

I'm sure Willie and Herbie will do fine, eventually. Willie looks like he's got a big soft heart.

Red (or orange) tabby coats are sex-linked male. Roughly 75% are male. My Gracie was an orange tabby and when I was reading up on George (a very, very rare male calico), I came across the stats on orange females.

She is decidedly a cutie. Gracie was very shy. As she got older, she became more social.

Willie's numbers don't seem to be affected by the arrival of Lil' Miss Herbie. He's been playing outside, while Herbie continues to take stock of her new surroundings. She's in love with the kitty cube that Willie previously shunned (helps it is laced with the 'nip!! :lol: :lol: :lol: ) and has been playing with toys. She's really a very sweet girl... very cuddly and even let me pet her belly earlier, though once she's doing her thing, if you're in the room with her and you move, she freaks out and runs and hides, only to peer out with a "oh! that was just you?!?" and goes back to playing and exploring. Been giving Willie lots of lovins to make sure he knows he's still my big baby boy.

Going to try to get some better pics of her markings... they really are quite stunning. She's light orange all over, but has distinct patterns in dark orange, with white on her chest and, cutest of all, several little white rings around the end of her tail. Willie is currently perched above me on the sofa, facing towards the bedrooms... keeping watch for any appearance by the little orange interloper!!

Christie, she is ADORABLE! I have a soft spot for orange kitties, don'tcha know! I'm sure Willie will adjust, he probably doesn't know what to think about her right now. It will help that she's a kitten!

Willie is looking good, keep up those nice blues and greens!

aw, she's a cutie! the tv is on too loud so i missed the hissing & sneeze, but the videos were awesome anyway! i'm terribly impressed by how cool willie is about her arrival. we had my eldest daughter's 2 cats living with us last year for 6 months and now when she comes to visit, anya still gets all hissy about it.

i thought nearly all orange cats were male - like 98%. i'm surprised it's 75%.

punkin says he wants to meet her at the next full moon party!

Oh, there was much more hissing after the video! :lol: :lol: :lol: Am letting Willie keep his distance for now. We'll see how sleeping arrangements go... she's been with a foster mom, but had another kitten in a room with her (with whom she also shared a cage at Petsmart for two weeks about a month ago), so hoping she'll be okay on her own tonight. Despite being sore, put in 3 1/2 miles at the park today, so I'm a bit tired!

Willie's currently snuggled on the bed with me, though he keeps looking at me as if I've lost my mind.

Little Miss Herbie is indeed a redhead (and it takes one to know one! :lol: :lol: :lol: )!! Earlier, when she saw Willie watching us through the baby gate, she sauntered up to it, gazed at him for a bit, then jumped up on the bed with me, making a point to keep eye contact with him while ROLLING ALL OVER ME, and purring noticeably louder. Willie went off in a huff, and she came up by my face. I laughed and said "you are rotten, little bit! you did that just to taunt you big brother!!" And I kid you not, she grinned, laid her head on her paws, and gave an angelic little "sweet little me?!?" look.

A bit later, she was in her cube giving herself a bath. I told her it was about bedtime, at which point, she jumped on the bed, gave me a once over with her tongue to make sure that I'd done a proper job during my epsom soak, then promptly curled up on my legs and started kneading me. I told her she'd have to move, and she gave me this "what?!? you said it was bedtime!!" look. Egads. Looks like she's already getting her mamabean's spunk!!

Awww I just saw that last video of the lil redhead! She is a little lovebug with a loud purring motor. I just love her, so cute and playful! Sending some good vines for Willie and her to soon become friends. This makes me want to get a friend for Maggie?
