4P kitty this morning, just havent seen a poop this morning. He decided to hang out at the lagoon last night,... and behaved himself :mrgreen: That didn't prevent me from getting up every hour to check him. I did give him 10% Merriks Chicken a la King at +8...just 2 tsp with 1 tsp ff chicken. He ate 1-2 tsp ff chicken every hour after our testing. He seems a bit restless this morning, but low numbers still seem to have that effect on him for now. Fed 1 can ffchicken and left out 1 can ff chicken in water and 1.5 can 10%.

Love that amps Twice - well done. I hear you visited the greens last night, and was a good kitty. Good job!

I so remember that restlessness when numbers were low. Mannie would do that: be restless, pace the kitchen when he was dropping, low greens. He was always at his best when in the low blues. Twice - you be good today for your bean.

Looks like we had a safe surf :-D He didn't touch any of the extra fuds I left for him including his standard 2nd breffis, not anything noticeable anyways, and was curled up sleeping when I walked in. Took him a while to drop the third eyelids, but dove straight into his dinner. He did only eat about half his 1st can of ff though, so either we had a good surf, or he was feeling crappy??? He is now a lovey ball of purry goodness. I have decided to buy a game camera so that I can get an idea of how his days go when I'm not home :-D Stalking my own cat now :lol:

This caught my eye! I used one of these back in March/April when Gobbles was having serious diarrhea...to see what time he was going (and to make sure he was the only cat with the runs)....works like a charm! There an...um....endearing picture of Gobbles squatting in his LB, in his OTJ video. Hope your Twice feels better--those BG's are just great!!!

@Kat-I just watched the vid, and it was too cute! :-D Ummm..endearing... :lol: Good to know the cam worked so well though. And I am going to check ebay to see what they might have, prices, etc. Congrats on getting Gobbles OTJ. And a beautiful avatar :-D

To think just yesterday you were worried about a failed reduction. :lol: :lol: Twice is looking great. If you are getting the nadirs you want, then it's good to hang onto the dose a little longer and see if the preshots come down. Seems that might be what is happening. :-D :-D :-D

Funny that Kat popped in with the deer cam story, that's what I first though of when you mentioned getting a camera to watch. I think others have talked about that and seen the cat mostly sleeping all day. :lol: :lol:

Really nice numbers today for Twice. I think he may like the lagoon. The LagoonMeister has been up on the beach, but hopes to get back to supervise the lagoon pretty soon.

Yo Twice--listen to your mama and do slow it down!!! Kim--I'm glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for your kind words. ***Be sure to get a test at +3. And if you have food down currently for free-feeding--be sure it isn't more than say, a tablespoon, because if Twice goes low, you don't want him filled up because you will need to be testing/feeding/testing and he will have to have room in his belly to eat...and...if you do have to test/feed/test, just give him no more than a tablespoon each time. I will check back in on you in a little while.

@Kat- I did grab the +3 (38). Thank you for the reminder to pick up the lc. I have given him 2 biggish tsps 17% gravy.

@Wendy-You have no idea how happy I am that it was tonight. I really had a feeling it would be in the morning while I was at work (hence all the extra fuds and mc). I'm ok right now. Antsy but am going to recheck every 20 min, so that gives me something to do :roll: Guess that reduction really didn't fail :lol: :?

Kim, in case you aren't sure what to do since you have gotten a low reading, please follow these instructions (I used to freak out when Gobbles had low numbers, and literally would have these instructions opened in another window...):

Depending on how carbohydrate sensitive your cat is, feed approximately a teaspoon or less of gravy from high carb food or high carb food only.
(If you have a cat with GI issues, using a couple of drops of syrup plus low carb food is an alternative.)
Test again in 15 – 20 min. Depending on the numbers, give more HC food.
Repeat the above steps every 15 – 20 min. until your cat tests in the 50 mg/dL (2.8 mmol/L) or above range for 2 consecutive tests. Continue to feed in small amounts to keep numbers in a safe range.
Test in 30 - 40 min. and repeat the test and feed process until there are 2 consecutive tests where numbers are stable or rising.
Test in an hour and follow the same steps.

DO NOT become complacent. If number have risen after one or two tests, it’s important to continue testing. Numbers may bobble up and down as the HC food and/or Karo wear off. DO NOT get one test where your cat has risen from low numbers into the 50s and go to sleep or leave the house. You are putting your cat in a risky situation. When in doubt, leave HC food out.

In the case of an accidental overdose or should there be symptoms of hypoglycemia, even if you have caught this in the early stages, you may need to monitor for literally 16 or more hours. Lantus and Levemir are long acting types of insulin. This means if your cat is over dose, you will need to stay alert for hours in order to closely monitor and to keep your cat safe.

Please post your numbers. Those people who are helping you will not abandon you. In fact, they are staying up with you. The experienced people will even work in shifts to make sure your cat is safe and you have the support you need. Remember to refresh your browser to see new posts and keep posting so we know all is well.

Looking at Twices' SS, I can't see any pattern as to when in his cycle his nadir usually occurs...As you know, Lantus usually causes nadir at about +6...and you're only at +3... With Gobbles, his nadir was whenever he felt like it being!!! Sometimes as late as +11 !!!

Yes Twice is also all over the map on when his nadir happens. I generally think it's around the +7 mark, but when he decides to dive, it's always at +2...well...alwaysish

How long since some HC? I'd like to see him a little higher. Might be time for another tsp of pure gravy if you've got it handy.

Giving the gravy after every test. His appy has been weaker than normal all day. Next test in 10 min but I will give a tsp now again. Thank you

@Michelle-Twice always has a great appy, but just not at all today. I was getting nervous when he wouldn't eat the gravy too!

@Jane-Me too! Worst fear is being at work when it happens. Usually he will eat when low though...

Hey, Kim did the work! And a great job at it. I hope this poor appy thing was a one time deal only. I often have to sprinkle freeze dried chicken dust on my civie's food. Well, only if it's turkey. :roll:

When was the last HC he got? Just wondering when the two hours past that would be up.

Last hc was +4. Wouldn't touch it after that. Had 1 lick at +4.5. Gave him a treat at +5 and he ate a few bites of lc then. Hasn't eaten since that. In half an hour it will be 2 hours since hc. So the two hours past that is for??? When the food spike wears off??

Effects of high carb food can be seen for a couple of hours after eating it. Plus/minus of course. Sometimes you'll see a drop after that so you want to wait until after that to see where he is before calling it a night.

Thanks again Wendy. I just did his +6 (139). Gave him his treat, but no interest in his food. He is, however, very interested in attacking my feet under the blankets :roll: :smile:
