11/12 Marley Lantus AMPS 180, +2 146,

Marley has been itching for some time. For the 5 years he's ben with me, we have kept fleas at bay with a herbal product called Billy no mates. I am not sure if he has fleas. I haven't seen any. He started to real itch once he started to regulate. Basically since I;ve been on here. He also lost - I wont say weight as I dont frequently weigh him, but he seemed to loose a thickness of skin - at first I thought this was a bad sign, but I then started to think it was part of hs healing, as it coincided with much better BG results and healthier shinier fur and better well being. But just recently hes gone really itchy and now has some scabs. I have no idea what it is - if its autoimmune, or ringworm or flea allergy. But I have also wondered if its a form of healing. He has had what I think was a scabby - what I think was autoimmune thing before. He was offered steroids and antibiotics by the vet (without a clear diagnosis) which I declined an o I tried him on CBD for a while and it cleared up) I know that humans as they heal from deep picture disease can go through all manner of symptomatic phases where dis-ease was pushed into the cells, and kind of shut off there, while the body health with more serious things. As they heal, these things come to the surface and need to be dealt with (not suppressed by a toxic pharmaceutical).......this is a foundational principle of natural medicine.

I just wondered if you had noticed a pattern - as you will have seen many cats heal - if this sort of thing occurs as they are getting better - they go through various detoxes?

So I have managed to loose the metre in my house which is pretty tidy. I haven't let the house today and no one has come in. Its a total mystery. But I knew I had another metre somewhere so I managed to locate that one. This one is still freestyle lite but it is mmol. I have tried to fill out the spreadsheet in the uk mmol section but it doesnt seem to be translating over to the mg/dl like it used to. Sorry I'm so tech challenged.

I think most cats generally just start to really blossom when better regulated as the sugar can get into the cells and be utilized by the body. So I would think based on his history there is likely a cause for the scabbing… you should be able to tell if he has fleas (and potentially flea dermatitis) by the dark brown/reddish flea dirt that shows up as tiny little spots usually prominently all over their bellies- if his fur is dark there you can shake his fur over a piece of white paper to see if the dirt drops into it. It could also just be allergies - sometimes it’s seasonal. If the scabbing gets worse it can become infected, which wouldn’t help with his regulation. Hopefully you’ll be able to find a cause so he will feel better.

I think weighing every week is a good idea- that will be the first clue of any health issues. Even weighing while holding him if he lets you is good, if there is a big change you’ll be able to see it. I have a digital baby scale and that works really well. My kitties usually like to lay in the cradle.

I hope you find your meter! Those little things are good at hiding!

Thank you so much for your thoughts. I'm not sure I could get him over white paper but a white sheet/duvet cover yes!

I did buy human scales for that purpose but a scale with a cradle part sounds much better idea!

Have you ever had a flea infestation and what did you use to get rid of it?

I hate the idea of the chemicals. For so may years ive used a herbal product, and it worked really well.

When Marley was really unregulated I did wonder if the herbs were interfering so I dropped the ball bit with giving the herbs incase that wasn't helping. I then reintroduced them, and hes been regulating well, so I know they dont interfere with BG. But Its possible in the time I wasn't using them, the lease got a hold, (if indeed it is fleas)......
