Well Not sure he's going to make it on the trial but keeping fingers crossed. Yesterday before bed he had climbed to 146 and this morning 24 hours since the last injection he's at 176. Still very good numbers over what he'd had a couple weeks ago but would feel much better if they were a just a tad lower.

Today should tell us more about where he's finally going to settle at. Won't be able to do any testing today during the day so this evenings number will be the true test I suppose.

One thing to remember right now is he's probably coming down off a bounce from yesterday's low near hypo numbers which is why I suggested that you hold for a few days to let everything settle down. Right now not only does he need to drain any remaining shed, but he also has to clear that liver dump of stored sugars and counter-regulatory hormones. That's going to take him about 72 hours to do before you are going to see by his numbers what he really is going to do. He may jump up for a few cycles before starting to clear the bounce and come back down again so just grit your teeth and try to ride the higher numbers out.

If he goes above 150 after he's had a chance to clear the bounce then start him back on the teeniest dose possible a drop, see what that does, if not enough then slowly come back up a drop at a time.

Totally agree with what Mel said... strap on your patience pants and just watch him. He needs time to settle. He is safe, all is well, just watch and wait.

And, if all else fails, this is a great "reboot" for him.

Well, his numbers before feeding didn't look all that great, he was at 213. I have my patience pants on, so I'll monitor him throughout the night to see how he's looking. I'm testing him again in 2 hours, so we'll see how it goes. I wasn't aware of the shed draining needed, so thank you for posting that. :-)

We're now at 36 hours since his last shot. Crossing my fingers.

Thanks everyone!

Pull the plug and shoot!!! He's not dropping back down even slightly. Just start back low.

yep, I agree, he is not quite ready, but i still think that this trial had merit, and that it will give you a chance to start again carefully. As Mel said, give just a tiny amount.

Okay, I'll give him a drop, following Mel's instructions for a "drop" in the morning right after I feed him. We have him on a feeding schedule of 0530 and 1730 and I don't think I should shoot this far past his dinner. Sound about right?

I do want to ask though...what happened to waiting 72 hours and putting my patience pants on? Is he just going too high too fast to wait the 72 hours?
We shall see what this brings us.

You called it he's straight lining up. If he had wobbled up and down a little then we'd have waited him out.

Mel and The Fur Gang

Okay, understood. Back on the juice he goes.

Thank you all for monitoring us and helping us along. We appreciate it very much!

EDIT!

I just checked him before I went to bed. He's going back down. At +5 (as in after feeding, no shot), he's at 206.

I'm not expecting an answer from anyone at this time of the night, but I will check in with his +12 pre-feeding morning number before I do anything.

This morning's number is 309. I gave him just a drop, as per Mel's instructions for getting a drop.

He's sure trying to come off. Just need to give him a little more support. That drop after eating says his pancreas is trying, and probably sputtering. Which can make dosing tricky because you never know when its going to help out and when it isn't. That's why we want to start him back super low.

Well I came home early today so I could get a mid-cycle reading on him. At +7 he's at 174 with just a drop this morning.

How long should I stay at a "drop" dose?

That probably depends on Felix, if he dives again to under 50 that will earn him a dose reduction and since there is only one place to go down which is off......

On the flip side if after 3-5 days when his shed refills if he isn't back in normal range then you inch up the dose again.

Mel and The Fur Gang

Okay. So wait at least 3 days before inching the dosage up again. That's what I was wondering, I didn't really articulate my question very well.

Thank you Mel!

I'm kinda betting he isn't ever going to go back up...Just because he needs to study just a little longer before taking his OTJ test again doesn't mean he won't pass with flying colors the next time. :-D

It took Cassanova 3 tries before he finally passed his, then he had to go get silly and hurt himself and put himself back on the juice at least for a little while

Felix's number was 129 this morning AMPS. I went ahead and gave him the drop of insulin. Tomorrow I plan to test him every 2-3 hours to see how he's looking throughout the day with the drop shot.
