He's sluggish and grumpy this morning. Growled during shot. Did not poo like he usually does in morning. Poor guy!

Staying patiently on the 1.5u dose to see if he levels out.

I inquired about the kittens who are out in the cold as these nights are getting below freezing now. I inquired on Thursday, but the agency didn't email the contact until Sunday night and the contact isn't responding because they told her that she would have to get them rabies shots. So I did not sleep worrying about these little babies out in the cold, snowy nights ahead. I have now told the lady I would help her with the rabies shots (not that I have lots of $$ right now). I am still waiting to hear from her. She initially wrote that she can't afford to take them on so the agency tells her that she has to pay for rabies vaccinations???? Really - I just don't get that. No wonder she is not responding. Now those kittens are freezing and I have a warm room to offer and I can't get them. So frustrating...

Why can't you get them? Most vets will give you a discount with more than one needing shots. Too bad they can't wait till spring, usually there are rabies clinics a couple times a year, where you can get them done for $10 each or less. I used to take mine when they went outside.
I refuse to have mine vaccinated now, they haven't been out in almost 5 yrs and I'm not overly confident in the safety anyway. When Lucian was dx'd and was very sick, they mentioned giving him rabies vac and I said no. One he was too sick and 2, I don't want it. I don't care what the county law is. My cats don't even have a balcony to go out on, there is NO chance of them contacting anything. I always had all the vac's when they were 'country' cats, but not now. If I ever return to the country, with land of my own, I would do it just to protect them, but I don't like it. At least, they have had it all in the past and had no reactions. It may be rare, but some cats do have bad reactions to the vac's. Luckily mine haven't.

But anyway, why can't you get them? Do you not know where they are or will the person not respond to you? Want me to go kick her a$$ for ya?? I'm in that mood today! Feeling cocky!

Apparently it is against the law for fosters to take in kitties without rabies shots. From there, the agency can get other shots and spaying at reduced rates. The agency head says it is very common for these contacts to put in urgent pleas and then disappear. So I may never know what happens to these kittens. She may have called another organization.

I don't do vaccinations either and the foster agency is okay with that. It does mean that I am ineligible to adopt from any shelters.

I know the general area but not the address and the contact (whom I contacted directly with no cc's) has not responded.
I know this agency means well but the woman who runs it is so overwhelmed. So much so that when I hired her to take care of my cats and foster while I went out of town for two days, she forgot. I never drove so fast from Princeton to Virginia. It is a wonder I am not in jail or six feet under. I cried all the way home. Luckily all were fine - just very hungry.

Now they have a pregnant cat that they want me to take in but momma and to-be-born babies need to be out of my house at Christmas so I can bring in my mother's cat. Ugh... I have to stop opening their URGENT emails.

Dude! Take off that tutu! That's a girlie color no wonder Bink picks on you wearing that sheesh son Rush Week is over already you won a place in your mom's heart.

Seriously if he doesn't come down by this weekend take him back up again and just keep going up until he does come down.

Are you still thinking about switching insulins in December?

Mel, Maxwell, Autumn and The Fur Gang

I'd have to agree with Mel, I'd have already taken him back up. I've decided to do the same with Lucian tonight, but I know, with you working full time, it can be more stressful on you. I'd be hesitant if I wasn't with Lucian all the time.

I thought pets in shelters already had shots when you get them. Will they take them back if you don't get them vac's the following year or something? What? They repossess them?

I couldn't deal with the mess you are, bless you hon!

What's with all these rules?? When I was looking for a playmate for Michelangelo, they were having me fill out forms asking me all kinds of personal information like who I lived with, how much money I made, my SS#, if I had promised my first-born to anyone else yet, etc.... I'm like, "I want to save this cat's life that you're saying you don't have any room for and you're going to put to sleep anyway, but because I forgot to fill out form 15-13-X in triplicate, I can't have him??" ohmygod_smile

What if you just bypassed the agency entirely and took them in yourself and then set about adopting them out yourself?

The kittens are feral living in and around some woman's yard. She finally did contact me but the agency wants to talk to her and straighten up the medical stuff before bringing me into it as a foster. The part that gets me is that she can possibly trap the three kittens but not the mother. So if we remove the kittens - the mother will essentially freeze to death

This keeps me up at night... I have to get away from this business after these babies are placed. The rescue agency person is not the best communicator and is very overwhelmed but every night these babies are trying to survive in 20-30 degree weather.

I would take them if somebody could trap them. She lives an hour away and may be elderly. I don't have traps or expertise which is why I really need an agency to get them properly. I am having trouble walking right now so I can't even chase them around a yard. I want to build one of those cardboard box shelters with the polystyrene blocks and newspaper to leave behind for the mother. If this is not resolved by the weekend I may just go down there.

Yes, I will ask the vet for Levemir when these last two pens are done. I usually get a bonus in December so I will probably get it then even if the Lantus is not done.
