Nice blue start to the day Sootie!! Hope the specialist visit goes well if you get Azalea in today..sending vines:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
Thanks for :bighug::bighug::bighug:.
No call from eye specialist re a cancellation opening for today. But brought Azalea in to local vetty for fluids try #3 (3rd day in a row). True to form when she doesn't feel well, one can only do so much at a time with her. eye exam had to be the priority Wednesday and yesterday. Azalea is either needle phobic or needle pricks are extremely painful to her nerve endings unless she's sufficiently distracted, assured or....light sedated. One of the new techs tried fluids and freaked out, and went for the leather gloves. I said no, that will only make her more upset And ya risk upsetting her injured eye. Between vet, one of the more familiar and soft-voiced techs and me, azalea got her fluids and vet observed her eyes. Thinks it's a little less bulbous than yesterday. Continue with Optimend gel drops. So, Monday morning it is for our trip to the eye specialist who is about 1 1/2 hours from here, depending on the traffic.

Sootie's +5 bg a whew 126 . And she was snacking on b'fast when azalea and I came home. I feel a little better about there not being yesterday's dramatic number changes. Maybe the day will be more even and healing for her. :bighug::bighug:

Crossing paws and healing vines for all,
Sina, Sootie and fam

Nice numbers for Sootie today. I'm glad you were able to get some fluids in Azalea and be there to intervene for her with the first vet tech. Sending prayers.

Yes, glad for Sootie and thanks again for your prayers and for checking in on us!

Yes, Azalea's always been tricky when it comes to needles and now being handled at the vet's when she's feeling 'off.' There are two techs who have the magic gentle touch, soft voice and know how to gently ohh and ahh her into putting up with weekly fluids.
I think if one of them had been available at the get go, azalea wouldn't have been so fractious at first. Plus I've brought her there three days in a row. Don't think that was settling well with her anyway.

Yesterday I asked vet if there was a med that might help to mellow her out for the specialist visit. He didn't advise anything because might possibly interfere with eye dilation, exam. Said that call should be up to the specialist. Today my vet said "now, you are going to tell the doctor that Azalea can be very fractious...way before he starts his exam?" Well of course I am and that's why I asked yesterday about meds!!! I'm thinking of adding rescue remedy this weekend. But might not be enough. For a little barely 6 pounds cat, she can get very feisty.
Any other natural or Otc suggestions?

I rub rescue remedy on the outside of Gussies ears, a drop on each, before he travels in the car..last few trips it has worked Miracles..no more hyperventilating the whole way there and back...the tech as my holistic vet asked if she could do that before I drove him home. I was skeptical as I'd used it orally before for him with no effect..imagine my amazement at a quiet cat for the hr long ride! Actually freaked me out! It worked for Syko when they moved too.
There is a natural calming collar Amazon can get to you pretty quickly, I don't know if it's at local pet stores, might check..I used it for Gussie when he boarded and it seemed to help

I've heard the thunder shirts work on some cats too, I've never tried one.
Hugs to you and scritches to your tribe!:bighug::bighug::bighug:

Sootie's pmps just now: 175. Maybe we're getting somewhere today?!!!? Anti jinx paws crossed. Eating a bit preferring DH's room at the moment. Will do pm dose at 0.25u!

@Gussie's mom...apologies not replying sooner to yours above. An afternoon of intermittent non-feline distractions.

Love your ideas....for Azalea...and our big adventure on Monday. I may need some rescue remedy too!
I do have...two thunder shirts..in different sizes...got them for Spunky during what we like to call her 'before time' when she first arrived from entrenched survival mode of life on the big city streets and high kill shelter trauma. She could be vicious aggressive in a nano second. First time I tried a thunder shirt on her (and was amazed she let me do so), she flopped over for about two seconds and then was back to business as usual!
But what wasn't a great success for her then might be a boon now for Azalea. The small size would def fit though she's so tiny it might look like a bullet proof vest on her!

Thanks too for the idea about calming collar and the Amazon link. If I get right on it and order it tonight with special shipping might be able to get it Sunday (azalea's appr is Monday morning).

Vines of healing and gentle night for all including Bobbie and her sweet Bubba who are having a tough go of it tonight. Extra❤️❤️❤️❤️ And thanks
Sina
