LO (<40) in the Libre, couldnt prick properly, read her again with libre: 43. Gave her 1 tbsp of HC food (15% carbs) and her LC food. I was able to prick her while eating: 84 in the libre and 67 Handmeter. It didnt feel safe giving her insulin. Should I still? its been 15 mins since her initial AMPS

Hi Jo, I’m not adept at dosing but can suggest until other more experienced members may advise you.
Can you stall to see if Nola comes up or continues dropping? Are you around to monitor her closely? It looks like you were on a tiny dose.
Of course with TR, you can shoot anything down to 50 on a handheld meter so you are above that when you got the 67 On your hand held meter.
I would say it comes down to if you’re able to monitor and your comfort level.

I believe you can shoot one time 30 minutes late a day, so if you just go back to your normal time tonight, you should be fine.

I would try to keep several cans of high carb food in the house hoping you have more than that one can on hand. Always a good policy to have multiple just in case you need it and don’t have to run out in an emergency.:bighug::bighug::bighug:

Usually the libre because pricking Nola is Mission impossible. I try to get a handheld reading when she reads LO - 40s in the Libre and then decide. But both monitors are correct and regularly calibrated. I actually managed to prick her today and that blood reading was entered into her Libre monitor

Ok and do you have honey or Karo or real maple syrup, too? If not get that too in case you need it. You can always run on get gums in an emergency.

I understand. I have the same problem with Ivy. It’s why I use the Libre too and focus on the Lo numbers to keep her safe as you do.

To get a drop dose, you push hard on the plunger of the syringe, then insert into the pen/vial/cartridge. Let go of the plunger, and the vacuum pressure will suck up a drop


I really had no problem giving a drop dose

Yes thats how I do it! But sometimes testing it nothing comes out, so I do it a couple of times to be sure.
