Good morning! Sorry so brief lately... Been busy at work. But like keeping the log here. :) so thank you for that opportunity. :)

Am test/feed/shoot notes:
  • Cliff woke us up, like clockwork, at 430a.
  • Willing participant this morning.
  • Lower # (for him)
  • Everyone was hungry.
  • I shot the insulin (let Dave sleep)
Happy Friday!

Quick post, as I pack. I've been trying to pack discreetly over the past couple of days, so I don't upset the cats.

Pm test/feed/shoot:
  • Good/good/good-Cliff was good. # was lower. He ate good. :)
Thank you for all of your help over the past 2 weeks getting started. It's gonna be weird to take 2days off from posting here, but Cliff will be on vacation at the vet, and Stella will be having a staycation here at home (with neighbor/friend/excellent cat-sitter.) My hubs and I will be visiting my family for my mom's birthday/retirement party!

See ya next week!

3 things:
  1. My kitties
  2. Chocolate
  3. Tea

Nice drop into pinks this morning! You said vet visit tomorrow right? What all are they planning to do? I'd definitely talk to them about an increase. I think its time.

Whatever works for you is fine! Short logs of hpohpow things are going wotks. We're a small group so we don't have rules on how to poist. :)

Sounds like this is getting easier for all concerned - really good news!

Yes, Cliff goes on his vacation to the vet's office tomorrow. :) We drop him off at 8AM.
Since we have a weekend trip out of town planned that we cannot get out of/reschedule--we are combining his 12-hr glucose test and follow-up exam with an extra day of diabetic boarding at the vet's office.
I realize that in the future, we can do the curve at home, but this just works out that they can do that Saturday, along with the exam. I have shared my spreadsheet with the vet via email and am pretty sure that she will recommend increasing the dose starting next week? We will pick him up first thing Monday AM.

Yepp! I am very happy with how the first week has gone. Despite the #s, I can tell that he is feeling better because he is more active and doing some of his old routines that he had abandoned for about a week before diagnosis. For example, he enjoys sitting in the window upstairs, but he wasn't going upstairs to the window much for about a week before he got diagnosed. I noticed that as odd/a change in his behavior, but I knew he was going to the vet. I was so happy to see him in his old window seat yesterday! :)

Not sure if others have mentioned this, but lots of kitties are stressed at the vet and we know stress raises big levels so his levels may be higher there than at home. Consequently, curves done there can be 100+points higher than at home and doses based on those numbers can be too high once the kitty gets home and relaxes. We mentioned we hoped the increase would be in the 0.25/0.5 range. I hope your vet goes with that.

Have a lovely weekend! Possibilities for good things start again next week.

Thank you for the notes!
I really hope he is not too stressed. I already packed his little overnight bag with food/treats and we will take him a bed and one of my husband's tee-shirts. :)

Even a squirrel or another cat at the window can cause stress. At the vet, it's nosier than at home, with other animals and people who are not the mommy and not the daddy. It's a fairly normal state - for humans and kitties. He should do well at the vet with his overnight bag. I am just suggesting that his levels may be higher than they would be at home, so the curve numbers there may reflect that.

I'm sure he'll do fine at the vet. As Sue said, it's just natural for them to be a bit more stressed than at home. I just wouldn't necessarily use the values they get to decide what dose increase he should get. Let us know how things go! And enjoy your trip!
