AMPS 230

so bubbas has pancreatitis, and therefore, he can’t go more than a day, or even a half a day without his Cerenia. I have found giving it to him every day has helped him completely stop puking, but at this point I can’t afford $200 worth of pills to give him a half a pill every day, it’s just not in my budget anymore. I’ve been trying to give him a half a pill every other day, but at this point, he’s starting to puke even with not having it for a day in a half or less, before he used to be able to go every other day without it and not puke. I don’t wanna be negative but clearly something is getting worse but there’s really nothing financially I can do right now. Does anyone have any suggestions for him to stop puking? I know it’s because of the pancreatitis, but I simply just cannot afford to give him Cerenia every day. Does anyone have any cheaper alternatives that I can give him every day to help him not puke?

Oh Katrina, I’m so sorry Bubbas isn’t feeling well and has pancreatitis. Poor baby! I personally don’t have any experience with this or know alternatives but hopefully there are others with more experience.

Try to post this with a question mark at the title up top, and let’s tag some more experienced people here to get more eyes on this situation!!
Sending you both hugs and love!

Can you ladies offer suggestions?

Thank you for tagging the others! :bighug: And where would I put the question mark? I put a question mark in my title already. Do you mean type a “?” In the title?

Yes. Put Something like “Cerenia ???” And use that question mark as you did, hopefully that will get attention and you can get some answers.
Maybe there’s also the possibility of posting in the main forum since it’s not really related to any insulin specific, but more about Cerenia and pancreatitis.

Look for pricing online. Then get an RX from your vet. Everyone charges a dispensing fee as well so buying a larger amount brings the per pill cost down. You can also buy larger pills and cut with a pill cutter.

I'm glad Elise was able to help with the Cerenia cost.

Why do you know that Bubbas has a pancreatitis flair going on? Just wondering if there's another reason that should be explored, like a food allergy that is causing the vomits. Many kitties with IBD get concurrent pancreatitis.

I know it’s pancreatitis because he basically got tested for it when I took him to the ER like two months ago. They’ve been wanting to do an ultrasound just to triple confirm but I just can’t afford it right now. Yeah I am happy that I’m able to get Cerenia for cheaper for sure I just wish there was an even cheaper alternative, or I just wish I can get everything with him under control. I’m doing a curb tomorrow and might have to bump him up

Pancreatitis flares can come and go. A kitty might test positive for it at one time, then not the next. Ondansetron can help a bit with vomitting, but Cerenia is the best. The reason I suggested food allergies as a possibility is that it's an easy test for you to do on your own. Looks like you are giving chicken now, try him on another protein for a while and see if it makes a difference.

I’ve actually tired to give him many different flavors. I don’t stick to just one. He’s been very picky lately and if I give him only one flavor , he will get tired of it and not eat it. So at this point I’m going him many different flavors. He likes the salon and fish flavors the most. At this point I just want him to eat so I gotta get what he eats lol sometimes he’ll eat the tender liver flavor and sometimes he’ll like the chicken flavor.
