I fell asleep watching TV last night and didn't test & shoot until +15, 3 hours late
He was 546 and I gave him 2 units.
Bad idea - I should have used a smaller dose.
I'd fed Sophisticat mixed with Purina Pro Plan turkey and giblets, but no Fancy Feast Kitten mixed in, so somewhat lower fat/calorie.
All the food had been pretty much eaten this morning.
At +9 this morning, he was only 52.
I waited until it was +11, retested and got 308, then shot.

Some math, which may or may not be valid:
546 - 52 = 494 point drop in 9 hours (between 11 pm and 8 am)
494 points / 2 units of insulin = 247 points per unit
AMPS 308
desired range: 100-150
drop needed for range: 158 - 208 points
lo drop estimate: 158 points / 247 points per units = 0.6 units
hi drop estimate: 208 points / 247 points per units = 0.8 units

Gave .8 units

Re: 11/11/2011 Spitzer - oops

I like your math.
I also think that he may have gone lower than 51 whuch is amazing.

Re: 11/11/2011 Spitzer - oops

Explains why he came into the bedroom to help me wake up, doesn't it!

Re: 11/11/2011 Spitzer - oops

Wow, big drop. Glad the amps is better, and that he's doing better.

Re: 11/11/2011 Spitzer - oops; AMPS~308,+3~255

He's hanging out in the kitchen ... near the food bowl so he knows some is available.

He always takes a bite after testing, in addition to the few kibble I give him (when the bag is empty, I'll switch to something else).

Re: 11/11/2011 Spitzer - oops; AMPS~308,+3~255

Note: a recent comparison of tests on a ReliOn Confirm and another meter consistently had the Confirm reading lower. So Spitzer's 52 might have been an underestimate of his glucose.

Re: 11/11/2011 Spitzer - oops; AMPS~308,+3~255

So glad that he is doing better and the numbers are coming down!!

Re: 11/11/2011 Spitzer - oops; AMPS~308,+3~255

Just a habit left over from what my vet told me on day one (my meter would read 30 points below "her" meter, and I did see that twice in side-by-side tests at the clinic) but when I see "50", my brain says "80". So, no, not too low really. Nice though!

Re: 11/11/2011 Spitzer 3~255,+6~283,+9~398,PMPS~461,+3~344

So the day has gone
AMPS~308 and 0.8 units of PZ
+3~255
+6~283
+9~398
PMPS~461, gave 1.2 PZ
+3~344

- PMPS was actually at =11, because I wanted to get back on schedule and because I knew he was bouncing from this morning.

So the math above didn't work, I suspect because of both insufficient dose and bouncing.
I'll continue testing to see if it works on non-bounce dose cycles.
