Here we are dropping fast. I think I gave Zhoom an accidental muscle shot tonight. I read that this can make the insulin kick in faster and not last as long. Is this true? Does anyone have experience with this - What should I expect? I gave him a little med carb food at +2 and tested 30 minutes later and it is at 135. Getting nervous!

Let’s see where he is at +3.

You have HC handy? Strips?

Sorry I don't understand the abbreviations. His appetite is normal, which for him is ravenous.

I'm totally freaking out. I feel so bad. Because I gave the shot wrong. The only high carb food I have is pate, no gravy, 17% carbs. A lick of honey maybe? I'll get another reading in a minute. Go from there.

He is hungry. And most of the P's are in place - peeing, pooping and preening. He doesn't play much these days and only occasionally purrs :(

He eats at 9:30 am and 9:30 pm with a bit of a snack at +8 am/pm. He eats 1 1/2 5.5 oz cans of food per day. I fed the 109 with more HC food - half hour later he is at 112.

You are doing great.

“Lather, rinse, repeat” - repeat the test/feed process until you see 2 tests in a row where the numbers are stable or rising. At that point you can wait an hour before retesting.

I’ll check in before I call it a night.

Thanks so much for your support. Once he gets up over 200 would it be safe for me to call it a night?

You don’t have to wait for him to get over 200 to stop testing. You can stop feeding high carb food. You want to have a couple tests in a row of rising or stable numbers, not influenced by carbs. Meaning when he is rising on his own.

It is good to keep track of how much extra food and carbs you feed outside of normal feeds. Useful infor for next time you are dealing with lower numbers.

Thanks. I added the food into his chart. I think he is starting to go up. I haven't fed him since +3.5
