...and we're back in the yellows  ...

I think that things are kind of sort of starting to settle here, although I'm so superstitious anymore that I'm hesitant to speak the words. I did wake up shaking like a leaf (literally) because I'm so on edge, but I'm sure that will pass.

Zen seems to be doing pretty well; to my inexperienced eye, the wound looks good (although it is so hard to actually look at it). He has moments when I can tell he doesn't feel super, but he also has many moments of being his typical Zen self. Fortunately, he really isn't interest in bothering the wound, so I think it must be feeling much better.

Petey is still afraid of the family room and laundry room door, although he did briefly venture into the family room a couple times last night. This morning, though, he wouldn't even come all the way down the stairs, so that's where he ate breakfast. I suppose that's improvement, because last night he ate in the upstairs bathroom.

I do have to go to work today, and I'm still carless. I'm sure my partner will let me borrow her car so I can run home to check on things mid-day. And usually I work late on Thursdays, but today I'll be cutting out at 4:45...more quality kitty time.

Happy Thursday, everyone!

Amy

Re: 11/10 Trixie AMPS 224

Hi Amy, wishing you a good day at work today and some calming vines. Good to hear Zen is improving. Oh poor Petey; it just sounds like he's taking baby steps and before you know it, will be okay. I hope Trixie comes down today, too,

Re: 11/10 Trixie AMPS 224

Thanks, Anne.

Kitties can be so funny/odd when they get startled. A number of years ago, a hand towel fell into Mario's water bowl...it freaked him out and he wouldn't go near it for weeks.

You guys have all been such a fabulous support system for me...

Re: 11/10 Trixie AMPS 224

Hi Amy, I once accidentally hit Maggie with a toy ball while we were playing and tossing back and forth! She got so scared and looked at me like "why did you hit me"! I felt so bad. It took a while to get her to play with ball with me again, but eventually she forgave and forgot and plays with it. You inspire us with your care for your six kitties with special needs.

Re: 11/10 Trixie AMPS 224 +2 167

I can't believe we're already up to +2...the morning is "flying" by here.

Thank you again, Ann...you're very sweet. Personally, I just find LL to be the most insipirational place I've ever been...finally, an entire group of people who understand that they are "cats", not "just cats"!

Re: 11/10 Trixie AMPS 224 +2 167

I hope yellow is history for today. It's good things are settling down in your kitty kingdom. Have a good day and take care of yourself.

Re: 11/10 Trixie AMPS 224 +2 167

Good morning Amy! I hope things are calmed down for awhile at your house. Poor kitties and poor poor bean. You are such a great mom! :YMHUG:

+2 is nice recovery for Trixie. Hope she surfs those blues and greens safely today.

Have a good day at tbp. I hate to be carless. It makes me feel so stranded.

Have a wonderful day!

sending soothing, calm vines your way. Hope you feel better soon and the gang have a great day.

Re: 11/10 Trixie AMPS 224 +2 167

Hi guys .. I'm glad to see trixie has made the way back to the blue floor for you .. as much as we like to see kitties in low numbers we have to remember they are cats, and do as they please, right? :-D I can't even begin to count the "fears" our girls have .. if we rustle plastic bags, if we bring out the vacuum cleaner, if mocha smells wild cherry pepsi  Tons of fears, but somehow they still manage to live pretty sweet lives around here .. I am sure petey will be fine .. :YMHUG: have a great day!

Morning & Look at Trixie go this am!! So glad Zen is feeling better--The compresses really help if you can do it--My boy let me so, you know warm water has healing properties for many reasons--Hope he s all better quickly!
You are indeed(and your partner) such loving giving souls, we welcome that here--
Hope all the kitties overcome their fears(Moonie gets so insulted if she is banged, touched, wet, or startled by anything, but has improved since she got older), and all will feel well=
Hugs & Love from us!!!

Re: 11/10 Trixie AMPS 224 +2 167

The compresses have been a no-go so far. I've tried a couple times, but he'll only tolerate about 30 seconds of it.

Just a little FYI...my "partner" is my business partner at the store. She has a couple kitties, too, but I have to give hubby credit where credit is due, since he's the one who gets to hold Zen for the betadine wash. Besides...he pops on the forum once in awhile...don't need to cause any further confusion at home  !

Kitties are pretty funny with their fears. Mario is terrified of aluminum foil. When I was growing up, our cat would come running when he heard foil, because he thought that meant he'd get a treat. Polar opposites!!

She's got to settle back down to her old greens and blues at some point, right???

Re: 11/10 Trixie AMPS 224 +2 167 +4 118 PMPS 221

I believe she will, Amy!!

and i second, third... ad infinitum your statement about what an inspirational place this is...
and your dedication & caregiving is a big part of that!

Don't EVER ask Binks about the tennis ball on the elastic rope I got for him and hung on the door handle.
he was about the same size as the toy...got a good grip on it and pulled it as far back as it would reach...
then let it go and it bounced off the door and knocked him clean across the living room   :o

I have NEVER lived that one down...what idiot wouldn't have seen that coming?

Re: 11/10 Trixie PMPS 221 +2 231 +4 199

199...seriously? Seriously?? On our highest dose ever??? Ugh.

LOL, Celi...I can envision it. Poor little Binksie!

Zen is doing well this evening....taking his meds, behaving pretty Zen-like, not paying too much attention to his wound. I'm still a nervous wreck over everyone and the last few days, but I think I'm improving as well. I really hope I can get myself focused enough to really catch up on condos tomorrow...I've been so wrapped up in my own little world. I miss everyone, and so many new folks have popped up in the last several days!

Petey also faced his fear of the laundry room door this evening, giving it a good long stare, then eating his dinner right next to it. He's still jumpy, but being very brave!

Good night, LL. I hope to see more of you tomorrow...

ohmygosh amy - somehow i missed that you were going through all of this! what a crazy 3 days you've had - i went back and looked at your last condos. sometimes the best thing you can say is that you survived this day and it is done with! tomorrow has gotta go better!

poor zen and the anal gland problem. that sounds just awful. i thought it was just dogs that had trouble with that.

here's a little present for you:
