11/10 Ovie PMPS: 539, +2:448, +3:308

No worries. I kept forgetting and was not so computer or iPad smart and had to be taught how. We all forget from time to time especially when worried or in a hurray.
 
Me too. lol. I have been doing this from my phone for the most part. I find that the computer is easier though.

The onset is usually +2/+3 for Lantus (long-acting insulin).....hence the question: why feed the kitty before the shot, when the BG is at the highest point? Only to make it even higher ?
Oh, so many different opinions on this matter. :)

I feed a little bit (couple teaspoons) before the shot but save the real breakfast portion for an hour or so later. You get the peace of mind that they have food on board, if you feed after shot and your cat decides not to eat, then what? If cat doesn't eat before the shot, you can skip, delay or otherwise plan accordingly.

That is true. That's why I love to hear how each of you manage your kitty's FD because everyone manages their cat's diabetes a little different. :cat:

I notice Ovie only eats a little bit before his shot. Maybe like 1/8 of can. But when I offer food around +3 he eats it all.

I notice the same with Asia, and it's weird too because, at least with humans, high BG makes you ravishingly hungry, seems counterintuitive for our cats to buck the system like that...but they are cats after all :rolleyes:

I believe you can edit the signature and make modifications on it as you wish, including the name of the SS........
 
Where is says "link" right? Maybe I need to try from the computer instead of the phone bc it won't edit.
 
Looks like Ovie is just pausing and reflecting on the excitement of the last few days, hang in there, these numbers don't last too long! Ovie's picture reminds me very much of Maverick's litter mate, Merlin, he had lovely stripes too, and was a huge cuddle bug, but then again, so is Mav...both rescues, not sure how I got so lucky :):cat:

Hang in there, there's a lot to work out with the accidental 10 unit dose and then 2 skipped shots, it takes some time for things to settle in. Look at Asia's SS, she had 6 hours of off the charts HI readings yesterday, and today she is surfing greens.:confused: It happens, it sucks and it is frustrating, but don't worry, Ovie will come back down. Do you have ketostix at home so you can check for keytones on occasion? I like to do that when the numbers are high just for peace of mind.

Unfortunately this is a marathon, not a sprint..........arm yourself with patience, this is just the beginning.
An average kitty gets regulated after at least 6 weeks - sometimes longer, especially if was diabetic for long time before diagnosed.

I will have to go out and get some ketostix. This feels like a rollercoaster and its just the beginning lol. I saw that she was real Hi yesterday:eek:. I'm glad to have you guys to talk me down. :cat:

You are right. It will take time and a lot of patience. He may take a while because at first we thought we couldn't afford to treat him. The old vet told us it would be over $800 to get him started.

I'm glad I have you guys. :bighug:
 
+3: is 308. Falling pretty fast from 500+ compared to earlier today. Should I continue to monitor tonight?
 
Wonderful pic of Ovie and your son! Welcome to the FDMB and to the amazing rollercoaster of feline diabetes. Still, it is the most wonderful feeling when you can see that you're helping your cat and that they're starting to feel and look better. But it is so true: it IS a marathon - not a sprint. But everyone here will help you. :bighug:
