Morning ~O) ~O) a little high AMPS this morning. I'm not sure what's up with Missy Maggie, but she is all purry and feeling good and has a good appetite. I was almost going to blame this number on my vial needing refilled, but this is a nice drop for the +2. I don't know why she was so high this morning! It has been four months though, and I'm getting so many bubbles in the syringe. I end up shooting thru the bubbles, so I think it's time for new juice! Bit I need to order strips first, and that's costly, too. I have so many things to take care of today, if I can remember everything. Have a nice Thursday everyone. Is it a Full Moon event today?

Re: 11/10 Maggie AMPS 182; +2 140 ATrak

Good morning Ann! Nice recovery for +2 Maggie. Four months??? Wow! I would love to get over two months.

Hope you are feeling better and healing. Have a great day!

Re: 11/10 Maggie AMPS 182; +2 140 ATrak

Four months is great. I've said it a bazillion times...someone needs to come up with a way to test whether or not the insulin is still good! At this point, I've prematuely started new pens or vials on several occasions because I was suspicious the insulin was bad, only to find out the insulin was probably perfectly fine. Heck, I just did that last week - started a new pen because of Trixie's weird numbers, and the new pen didn't bring about any improvement. So frustrating!!!

Definitely a nice +2 recovery there, Maggie Girl!!!

Re: 11/10 Maggie AMPS 182; +2 140 ATrak

Thanks Melissa, the leg is slowly healing, still red and some swollen but no pain. On the Lantus vial, my Vet said it's good for five months, but for me four seems like a good number. I do notice a lot of bubbles though, and not sure if that's from age.

Linda, I hope so, too, Maggie works on down from the +2. Usually she peaks at he +3 and then it's all up hill!
Most of the time!

Hi Amy, I've done the same thing with replacing insulin in the past. I blame her numbers on old insulin, only to find she still has the wonky numbers. And also with food. I was blaming SK Friskies T & G for her high numbers, but even with the former lc fuds, she's high. so I'm hanging onto the Friskies.

Re: 11/10 Maggie AMPS 182; +2 140 ATrak

Wow, that is a long time. but she is coming down now. I know when you have to get everything at once. :?

Re: 11/10 Maggie AMPS 182; +2 140 ATrak

Morning ! Longest I ever got was 44 days out of a pen!--I NOW Put the Date on the Pen with magic marker
so I will know when I started it--If Libby hadnt called my attention to the 44 days on a pen factor, I would have continued blaming Moonie :o  --It is still a mystery to me when I start a new pen & numbers dont drop !! Maybe we need to wait a few days for results....This disease is still unpredictable, and we all need to recognize that, but we do have intervals when we get some control and those are the days we treasure.

Maggie is off to a beautiful start today--Whoo Hooo!! Let's see some green Maggie & Moonie-
Have a great day & hope your leg is feeling better--I am always hurting myself, usually my toes(broke quite a few) but hope you are all better ina day or two--Hugs & Love from us!!

Re: 11/10 Maggie AMPS 182; +2 140 ATrak

Drat those bubbles are a real pain but it looks like Maggie is coming down nicely.
Sounds like you have a hectic day, take it easy.

Re: 11/10 Maggie AMPS 182; +2 140 ATrak

Hi guys .. glad to see maggie dropped at +2, lets hope she doesn't go back up after this ... We only ever got about 1 month off a pen for mocha .. her numbers always creeped back up .. probably wasn't the insulin though  Hope you guys have a great day!

Re: 11/10 Maggie AMPS 182; +2 140; +5 135 ATrak

+5 135

Hi Ann & Tess, yes, it is a long time. The vial seems to last much longer than the Pen. I've never used the pen.
Her numbers reflect the vial is still good or she's doing this on her own. Wishful thinking.

Thanks Roni, 44 days for a pen and curious as to the cost of a pen. The Lantus vial is approx $100.00 from Walgreens. Cost may have gone up this time.

Hi Iorwen, I tend to wait til the last minute to order strips, etc., procrastinate too much and make things worse for myself. When will I learn?

Hi Devon, it looks like Maggie is moving slowly with just coming down 5 points. She tends to eat more in the mornings, so the numbers may be fuds driven.

Re: 11/10 Maggie AMPS 182; +2 140; +5 135 ATrak

4 months is good for a vial. We use a vial and are approaching 2 months. I dropped and broke the last one so we haven't had a chance to see how long a vial will last. :-x Have a great day!
Liz

Re: 11/10 Maggie AMPS 182; +2 140; +4 135 ATrak

4 months on a vial......dang that's pretty good! Those darn bubbles are the bane of my existence and probably everybody else here in LL.

I was just mentioning to my parents about it having to be a full moon, Leo has been racing around, meowing, playing and just acting silly in general these last few days. Major ZOOM ZOOMS!

Nice numbers from Mags today and i hope you ladies have a wonderful day!

Re: 11/10 Maggie AMPS 182; +2 140; +4 135 ATrak

Ann, glad to hear the leg is a little better today. Don't forget to take all the antibiotics (I sound like your mom now, right?)

I also just bought new insulin thinking Simon's numbers were higher because of the old insulin. Turns out it wasn't the insulin but I probably needed to buy a new vial soon anyway.

Nice numbers this afternoon for Maggie after the AMPS. glad to hear she is feeling so good.

Re: 11/10 Maggie AMPS 182; +2 140; +4 135 ATrak

I've usually found it takes a few days to see the difference if the old insulin was losing it's punch. Remember that you are now rebuilding the shed w/ the good stuff.

Ann, the best price I've found for the pens is at Costco, $179 + tax for 5. But you are getting 15ml total, not 10ml. I've never found anywhere that will sell just one, but we live in the boonies.

Re: 11/10 Maggie AMPS 182; +2 140; +4 135 ATrak

+6 161

Hi Anne & Zener, bummer on dropping the vial. I haven't yet called in for a refill. I was going to watch her numbers today.

Hi Tracy, I think a Full Moon does something with our kitties. Maggie wouldn't let me alone this morning wanting my full attention. I bet Leo is a riot with the zoomies. Yes, the bubbles are a pain.

Hi Georgia, yes  I will take all the antibiotics. Thanks for reminding me. I know it's tempting to stop when it looks better, but I've heard it's best to finish it. I hope Simon's numbers do improve with the new vial.

Ann & Tess, thanks for that info; good to remember as we all look for instant good numbers with ne insulin.
At $179 for 5 pens, it is less expensive to buy the pens! I was thinking the vial was cheaper but don't think so now!

Re: 11/10 Maggie AMPS 182; +2 140; +4 135; +6 161 ATrak

I'm not sure whether you meant her pooby number, or did the kitties have an event planned for the full moon tonight...

but I KNOW the latter is a resounding YES!
Binks has been beside himself today (insert pic of two cute Binksys here) :-D ...
with a running commentary of his free association thoughts as he readies for the party...
and i distinctly heard a snippet regarding "Gon' fin' out what up wif ma Maggie-gurl's nummers!"

hope it's a matter of refilling the shed with fresh juice, Ann...

and oh, my...do I hear you on the buying supplies bummer

PMPS 170

I'm not sure whether you ermeant her pooby number, or did the kitties have an event planned for the full moon tonight...

What, Celi, is a "pooby" number - oh a "high" number maybe! I guess I was blaming her high numbers on the Full Moon rather than the old juice!

Nice AT numbers Miss Maggie! Maybe green is just around the corner!
We get our AT strips through ADW online and they run about 95 cents each if we buy 100 at a time, and no shipping. If you buy 200, it's about 90 cents each.

Hi Celi, that pic is too funny, now I get it!

Hi Anne & Zener, I just orderd a new vial and will pick up tomorrow morning. Yes, I also get my strips from ADW. I just ordered two bottles and a box of lancets. Not sure what's going on with the 209, but she just did eat. I should have caught Mags before she had dinner, or I think this was an after dinner snack.

Maybe it's the full moon party and Maggie is just excited about the hot toddies? Paws crossed she comes down soon.

Hi Ann,
I've also switched out perfectly good insulin because I thought it was bad. I've since decided that it's the cat and just this week made a resolution (after wasting a practically new pen of Levemir). From now on, I'm sticking with the new cartridge/pen regardless!!! Ann's point about the shed and the new insulin is a good one. And then there is the "motto" I borrowed from Lisa (Do Lou): "The biggest variable in FD is FD itself."
Glad that your leg is healing. You must finish the antibiotics as prescribed. Otherwise the bacteria could be only partially wiped out and will come back more virulent.

Maggie is at Camp Stu celebrating the Full Beaver Moon with her pals. Don't expect her home any time soon!!

Hi Anne & Zener, back down to blue. She must have heard you as she's back to blue. Yes, Mags does love the hot toddies.

Ann's point about the shed and the new insulin is a good one. And then there is the "motto" I borrowed from Lisa (Do Lou): "The biggest variable in FD is FD itse
lf."
Yes, I have to remember that about the insulin and the shed. Both are great info. Yes, definitely will do with the antibiotics, thanks Ella. I don't think I will wait up for Maggie coming home from Camp Stu. Too late. :-D

Hi Ann: glad your leg is doing better and that you have been properly warned to take all your antibiotics!

Gosh that is an unusual day for Maggie!!! I hope tomorrow she will come down and that you are able to get new juice and strips.

I buy the lev pens at Costco as well... $174/5-3ml pens. I have seen Jill state many times in condos (and I believe it is also in the stickys) that she always uses her pens to the last drop and that typically it isn't the
juice but the kitty. I've changed pens, like Ella, only to find it didn't matter. I just used all of my first lev pen and had no problems with the numbers.

Good luck and I hope Mags comes down. Have a great night.

Hi Marje, yes it is a very strange Maggie's numbers day! She does need a dental, but the Vet said it could wait a few months. This was at her six months senior visit. She did have one dental this year. I'm four months on the vial, so it probably is time for a new vial. Yes and thanks on finishing the antibiotics. I go back for a check-up tomorrow.
