Hi all,

Oh boy, just when I think we're getting things figured out with Corduroy's blood sugar, something else happens. He's had diarrhea now for three days (since Friday). I thought that maybe it was the Neosporin w/pain relief that I started giving him on Thursday night and all day Friday, but I stopped giving it to him on Friday. Now it's only getting worse (started getting watery tonight), and on top of it, he's not interested in eating. I finally got him to eat a little bit of FF Savory Salmon, but not much at all. Plus, he's not even really trying to get to the litter box anymore, just goes on the floor. I guess I will take him to see the vet tomorrow if they have an opening, but just wondering if anyone else has had this.

Oh, I've been feeding him Evo 95 % Chicken & Turkey for two weeks now. I was feeding him Weruva, but his BG levels went rocketing up.

Sorry about the loose poo. Is Corduroy going to his dish at all? Licking his lips? Just wondering whether he's feeling nauseous and not willing to eat (a 1/4 tablet of a 10mg Pepcid might help) or whether it's a back end issue. A probiotic like Fortiflora might help that. It's a good idea to get him to the vet tomorrow after than many days of diarrhea. You should also check if he's dehydrated.

Sometimes cats can just get GI bugs, paws crossed it's something simple the vet can diagnose.

poor little guy. i'm sorry it's still going on. it probably had nothing to do with the neosporin, then.

have you tried fortiflora? that can help firm up some cats. the vet likely sells it. i hope he's better quickly.

Re: 11/10, Corduroy Still Has Diarrhea and Now Will Not Eat:

just saw your other post from today. at one point, i was told to try an entire packet of fortiflora per day to deal with diarrhea.

other tips for getting him to eat - warming his food, using your finger to get some into his mouth to tempt him, sprinkles of parmesan cheese or oregano, little bit of tuna water (no onions) . . . if you haven't tried those, i would.

also, if it takes HC to get him to eat, use it. maybe he'd like a little gravy treat tonight.

Have you made any changes in Corduroy's food? Many cats are allergic to beef and fish which could cause a GI upset.

I think a vet appointment is a good idea. This could be a GI bug. Probiotics can help. Unfortunately, unless your vet has FortiFlora, it's usually only available online. ReNew Ultimate can be found at Whole Foods, GNC, or may be more widely available. If you track it down, you use 1/3 of a capsule x2/day mixed into food.

You might also want to ask for some metronidazole. One of my cats got really bad diarrhea and the clostridium bacteria normally occurring in the gut got way out of hand.

Prayers for Corduroy.
I hope you can get into the vet quickly.

Have you tried something other than cat food?
I can almost always entice mine with ham. ( not ideal, but it's one of her favorites)

The other thing that most cats don't turn down is something like KFC. pick the fried skin off.... and give them just the meat.
Sometimes you just have to get something in them.

I've been trying Fortiflora sprinkled on FF Savory Salmon to no avail. He usually loves that food. He's just sitting in the bathroom, away from us, on a rug. I do think a vet visit is in order tomorrow.
