Re: 11/1 Rusty AMPS 122, +5.25 67; lab results

Hi again,

My car is now set for winter. I have to go back this afternoon for the procedure of re-torquing the lug nuts after about 20 miles (this is very important. I never knew to have it done until I went to my present--excellent--shop).

While there I went to my vet (who is next door) and got the paperwork on Rusty's blood and urine tests and his spec fPL (didn't speak with the vet, who was busy with patients). I'm happy to say that Rusty's spec fPL is 3.8 ug/L, which means that
"Serum spec fPL concentration is increased [from the normal range of < or = 3.5 ug/L]. The cat may have pancreatitis and Spec fPL should be reevaluated in two weeks if clinical signs persist. . ."
Since Rusty doesn't have any of the clinical signs, I'm assuming that he is OK from the standpoint of pancreatitis. His inconsistent and/or higher bg numbers may indeed have been owing mostly to the compacted anal sacs. His numbers are so much more normal (for him) now, and he has better energy. He has always been eating well. When I get a chance I will post his other test numbers in the "labs" tab on his SS.

Haven't tried to call Roni yet today because I assume that they are going to try to get to Long Beach to see their house. The news reports for Long Beach are pretty bad: There is no more beach! All the sand was washed up into the residential blocks. Roni and Brad are 5 blocks from the ocean, so hopefully their damage will be manageable. I'll try to find out something later. In any event, the whole city of Long Beach is still closed down because there is no power and no water/sewer.

bbl,

Ella & Rusty

Re: 11/1 Rusty AMPS 122, +5.25 67

Hope Rusty surfs those greens all day.

I really hope Roni's house has minimal damage. None would be even better.
Hope they have insurance too.
Maybe they will get in and she'll have her cord soon and can tell us all the details.
Still praying for them....

Re: 11/1 Rusty AMPS 122, +5.25 67

Hi Ella

Good news on some of Rusty's results at least. And nice numbers AMPS too. Oooo 67? Guess I'm a little sensitive this morning!

Glad you are set for the winter. I've had a 4x4 or AWD for practically my entire life - been a lifesaver with the snow in the NE. I hope Roni is okay and that they had flood insurance. If that were that close to the water's edge, hopefully they did and were required to have it.

Nice start to the day nd the test results sound good too. Are you having the spec fPL redone?

I read Barbara's update on Roni's house! I hope she can get a fst response on the insurance and get back soon. But she has what is most important, Moonie and Brad.

Hi Ella.....nice numbers for Rusty today.
No pancreatitis anxieties, right? He feels good, eats well, his bg numbers are good!

Glad you got your tires on and car's all set for winter, coming sooner than we want. nailbite_smile Looks nasty out my way.
'they mentioned the 's' work for us tonight. I choose not to believe it.

I'm so sick to my stomach over Sandy.....heartsick for Roni and Brad. I'm glad you and Barbara talk to her, so we can keep up.

I hope Rusty surfs the night away in green.

Re: 11/1 Rusty PMPS 96; lab results

Hi again,

Rusty is still cruising along in green. He and Edward had a vigorous play with the bell balls and the cube while I was making supper. Now he's in his basket by the radiator. Ann, I will not have the spec fPL repeated now unless Rusty shows some symptoms. It's been almost 2 weeks since he had the test in any event. He is really doing well. I'll try to get the lab results from the other tests posted tomorrow.

Just talked with Roni (see my most recent contribution to the Roni condo that Barbara/Tuffy started). She is depressed, to say the least, but she is so strong and I know that she will rally. They will remain in the motel in Commack for now (Moonie really likes it there!). The motel has power (whereas her brother in CT doesn't have power yet). Her cousins are visiting them at the motel this evening.

bbl, gotta watch "Person of Interest" (my favorite show at the moment).

    Looks great Rusty!! and good labs too!

I so feel for Roni... how devastating it must all be. I will keep them in my thoughts.

Great news on the p'titis test! Yay Rusty!!

Glad the car winterizing is done. Thanks for letting us know how Roni has been doing. I am so sad for her....I can't even imagine.

Hugs! Thanks for giving Tobes extra love last night :-D
