We are bouncing all over the place.
I don't think we are ever going to get this right...too much, not enough? WTHeck.
He is on orbax 2ml once a day for ten days. Day four. I really thought his numbers would be getting better.
So the orbax is for a possible UTI? Just curious, did the vet get a sterile urine sample via a cystocentesis and then did he run a culture and sensitivity test on the sample? That way too, he could see what type of bacteria you are dealing with and what antibiotic will work the best (if there is indeed an infection).
Sorry, I know you are at your wits end with Mickey's poor litterbox habits (or lack of) and it would be easy for a vet to suspect an infection could be the cause. I have always wondered if it could be stress related for Mickey which could cause a form of cystitis (which doesn't usually respond to ab's, but rather pain meds are given).
Please read what Dr. Lisa says on the subject. She explains it very well:
Dr. Lisa on urinary health
If he didn't do the C&S, did he at least do a urinalysis to test his urine specific gravity? Whatever tests he did do try to get copies. They can send them to you.
I am sorry. Again, I know you are at your wits end. I hope the orbax helps if it is a bladder infection.
Is the Orbax affecting his appetite at all? It says it has to be given on an empty stomach one hour before, or two hours after a meal. Is it a liquid? I hope he is doing okay with it and feels better soon.
P.S. are you still feeding him the Evo dry? If so that can aggravate the situation since even though it is low in carbs Dr. Lisa says any dry food contributes to a water-depleted diet. She talks about it the above article.
