We are bouncing all over the place.

I don't think we are ever going to get this right...too much, not enough? WTHeck.

He is on orbax 2ml once a day for ten days. Day four. I really thought his numbers would be getting better.

So the orbax is for a possible UTI? Just curious, did the vet get a sterile urine sample via a cystocentesis and then did he run a culture and sensitivity test on the sample? That way too, he could see what type of bacteria you are dealing with and what antibiotic will work the best (if there is indeed an infection).

Sorry, I know you are at your wits end with Mickey's poor litterbox habits (or lack of) and it would be easy for a vet to suspect an infection could be the cause. I have always wondered if it could be stress related for Mickey which could cause a form of cystitis (which doesn't usually respond to ab's, but rather pain meds are given).

Please read what Dr. Lisa says on the subject. She explains it very well:

Dr. Lisa on urinary health

If he didn't do the C&S, did he at least do a urinalysis to test his urine specific gravity? Whatever tests he did do try to get copies. They can send them to you.

I am sorry. Again, I know you are at your wits end. I hope the orbax helps if it is a bladder infection.

Is the Orbax affecting his appetite at all? It says it has to be given on an empty stomach one hour before, or two hours after a meal. Is it a liquid? I hope he is doing okay with it and feels better soon. :(

P.S. are you still feeding him the Evo dry? If so that can aggravate the situation since even though it is low in carbs Dr. Lisa says any dry food contributes to a water-depleted diet. She talks about it the above article.

Thanks for the article!
They did a urinalysis. He gets it in the middle of the afternoon. His appetite is good. He still nibbles on evo occasionally. salmon/herring or chicken/turkey.
This problem is most likely stress related via Thomas. Or Tucker, he likes to swat him on the head for no good reason. I just have too many cats for him. He runs through the house scared of himself and all the others. I wish he got along with the one I have in the cat room, he could stay in there and still see out the screen door. I need to figure out something else for him. We even tried the animal communicator Dawn Allen.

I was getting ready to go to work tonight and my civie Matilda squatted and peed on the bathroom floor. We just are not catching a break at our house. So I suppose she will have to go to the vet now.

I don't have anything to add at the moment (I really should go to bed!), just my sympathies and paws crossed that you see some improvement and he feels better.

Did you say if you tried a Feliway diffuser? It might calm everyone down.

I was going to suggest the Feliway diffuser or even prozac for a different kitty! Not sure which one, but whoever bothers him the most.

Sorry, not much time this AM to comment.

Sheila- we have tried the feliway defuser, it didn't seem to make a difference negative or positive.
But thank you :)
Vicky,
I hope you are holding up ok. I must say I was in tears over the news of Gandalf and have been thinking of you both, very often. I also love the rainbow that appeared for him. Everytime I see one I think of my mother telling me her breast cancer came back. It was just after a rain, and the rainbow was right behind her. Now I will think of her and Gandalf.(((hugs))
