Condo - dental yesterday

I am truly amazed at how well Darwin is doing today. I couldn't sleep as I had visions of the pain meds wearing off, and he being miserable this morning. Got up at 6:00am (on my day off) to find him having turned into a kitten! He greeted me with insane amounts of purring, and running around the house like a banshee...he did not get the memo about dental work being a drag :D

I gave him a dose of Bupe this morning, just to keep him comfy, but he's feeling amazing today! I wish I had known about his resorptive disease sooner - trying not beat myself up, but he has always eaten great and his teeth have always "looked" great until this year. Poor guy!

Sending vines out to all of those in need, and especially good thoughts and hugs to Michelle and her family during their difficult time :bighug:

So glad Darwin is feeling terrific! The best moments are when we get to see them act like kittens again, though I don't miss the climbing up drapes antics . The resorptive disease is interesting, Most of us go by what we see, can't imagine there might be an issue you don't see! I'll be googling that :bookworm:

Such awesome news, yay for renewed kittendom! Asia was the same exact way, it was like she was saying "thanks for pulling out all those painful teeth, I feel great now!" Don't beat yourself up, when it happened to Asia we went to a specialist oral surgeon that also worked on big animals at the national zoo, like tigers and elephants. He said it's just a thing with cats and they don't really know why it happens, it just does, so it's not you could have done anything. Especially since he wasn't symptomatic, I would say you caught it earlier than most and you can pat yourself on the back for that!

You'd be surprised how much you can't see :blackeye: It was life-changing when we got our dental x-ray unit at my clinic - we rarely have a cat or dog in where we find NO surprises. I've seen teeth that look completely normal above the gumline, but not great beneath the gumline - it's crazy! :woot:

So happy for Darwin! He's really checking all the "resolve my health issues" off his bucket list, isn't he?
Haha, he sure is! I'm so thankful for pet insurance! I am hoping I don't have any trouble with them covering most of this since he had problems in the end, and we also took a little growth off of his ear as well (which they ought to cover). :joyful:

Totally the truth! Thank you! Cats are so sneaky and tough! I think I will be taking Darwin to our local Veterinary Dentist next year to make sure we stay on top of everything - he also works on our local zoo's animals!

Glad Darwin is doing so well!! Maggie had some resorptions and we didn't know it until it got so bad her eyes watered after eating. Didn't stop her eating even then. @Christie & Maverick keep on top of those dental visits!!
Curious about the watering eye... was it constant after eating or did it come and go? I’m assuming Gizmo’s watery eye is due to his acro but when I read your post I began to wonder what if ... Gizmo’s teeth appear to be fine, but I guess you never really know.

It's funny you should post this because I had thought the same thing! Darwin has had constantly watery eyes because of his Herpes - or so I thought. After reading the post from @Alicia & Maggie, it did make me wonder if the teeth were contributing to his eye discharge as they had been more water than they used to be. I can't say for sure, but I do think that they have been significantly improved since his dental on Tuesday..........o_Oo_O
