Happy Halloween LL kitties, even if I am a day late, I was with you all in spirit. Halloween night, such a great party night for out furkids. and the Circle of Remembrance. I so remember its creation. Ella, it was an excellent idea. I so hope this tradition will carry forward in future years. I can remember how poignant it was the year that Mannie's name was on that list of the Rainbow bridge Kitties. I felt his presence yesterday, as did Nicholas. Miss ya tons Big Guy!

Good Morning LL!! ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) (Ahhhhhh.... elixir! Thanks Elsa), and Happy Catmint Caturday!
LL! It's is I, Elsa, KBP, president and CEO of Coffee Cat! Life is GOOD! GUESS WHAT! Paw Prints Pizza is open and ready for business! They are running a Caturday Catnip special today, in honor of Catmint Caturday - lots of nip in those pies! They have even used their signature nip cheese. Best order early! OOOOOOOOO! They have perfected their NY Style hot dog pies. MAJOR YUM!!!! Try one, you'll see! Just order the Mannie and Stu Special! so. well. anyways. ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) Coffee time! For today, I proudly offer Elsa's special 10 hour energy coffee, and Double shot espressos, with beans from deep within the mountain slopes of Africa, AND.... for all my Mocha fans: a venti quad peppermint white chocolate mocha, with peppermint infused whip, garnished with peppermint candy chips and white chocolate shavings... It is my bean's fav! SWEET! OH! No worries, a dollop of peppermint and vanilla and chocolate and caramel swirl ice cream, on top of a dollop of fudge, sprinkled with peppermint chips and a chocolate caramel drizzle.... Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh....... mega good!

I hope everyone had a great day yesterday, and a great week. Happy Halloween, one day late. ;-) The days with the boys have been good ones! We have been very busy, that part of life has not changed. Will it ever? ;-) NOPE!! :-D :-D :-D    What a BUSY week! We have been swimming, and hiking, to the park and on the river, and the science center, and the aquarium. We have had lunches at rivers edge, car camping some too, and indoors on benches. Funny how the boys love those impromptu eat wherever lunches. Life is good! :-D :-D :-D

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday Night were our swimming days this week. That's alot of pool time! William went Monday and Thursday, Nicholas Wednesday and Friday nght. Nicholas did not swim on Monday, as he was down with a nasty chest cold, and all decided it was better if he take a day off so he could get better. They both are truly water babies. William has taken to it all so well. He never cries when there, always asks for more of whatever he is playing on. He doesn't seem to mind when the water spray features are on. He loves the slides, and wants to climb up the stairs on his own. So we do, slide down together.  I am continuing to introduce him to being underwater, for short periods at a time. He doesn't seem to mind them, I've even had a few smiles. He's adjusted to back floating, and "swimming" on his front. I have no doubt that he will like this as much as Nicholas does. Nicholas continues to be very supportive of William's efforts in the pool. He still asks how he did when he can't swim with him, tells me what I should be training him on, asks if he did certain things. It is cool when he says" "He's doing great Grammie!" Yes, that he is. Nicholas continues to be our energizer fishie. That I think will never change. he just has so much fun with it all. He continues to LOVE the new pool we started going to a few months ago, in Snohomish. it really is a wonderful experience, and he can do alot of the things he likes there: like the slides, the lazy river, and deep water jumping and diving. That has become our new Friday pool. It is a ways away so it does add to our commuting time, but we all agree that it is very much worth the effort and time spent. We are still trying to "convince" Nicholas that swim lessons would be great... I continue teach him what I can. He continues to make lots of new friends when he goes. it's fun to see him connect up with kids when he gets there. We all just love pool days, and are grateful that we have the pools and the time to be able to do this. GO NICK! GO WILLIAM!

Nicholas still looks forward to our after swim Friday Night Burger Feast That is just so fun: burgers and fries, just him and me, with lots of fun stories. He was so happy to see that burger and fries combo show up, just like always. Somehow I think that is part of the magic of Friday night swims: that he gets burgers etc after his swim. Yesterday we again talked about our week, trips to city science center and the aquarium. The drive home continues to be an enjoyable time for him. he's into volcanoes these days so we talk alot about them. GREAT TIME!

Monday I spent the afternoon in Seattle, visiting my friend. It's nice to be able to get back into "town" once a week and catch up with people I used to work with, before I hung up the working mantle. Coffee time with Barb though is great! :-D :-D :-D I enjoy my weekly trip to Seattle to see my friend from my working days with Nordstrom. I do enjoy though being able to connect with her once a week, and head into the city for a bit. :-D  I had some extra time on Monday since Nicholas did not swim, nor William, so I went in early and sent sometime at the Freeway Park. It is a well done city park, that covers a portion of the freeway that runs through Seattle. It was a great time. The park was full of fall color complete with some sun to enjoy.

Tuesday should have been my hiking day. . I had so wanted to be in the North Cascades (don't I always??)..... but alas, Tuesday ended up being "install the new deck slider door" day, so I needed to be home. The weather really didn't support any hiking anyways.... and up in the mountains? reports of lots of freezing white stuff.   Already? but.... but... but.... I'm not done yet with my mountain hiking!!!  so............. we ewer home and watch a group of guys battle heavy rains, and winds, and install my new door. 5 hours later they were done, dripping wet, but still smiling. The door looks great, works 100% better than the old one. YAY!!! :-D :-D :-D There was enough time in the afternoon for me to take a walk locally here at home, the usual at Meadowdale. The sun eventually did show for a few hours, so off I went. It was too bad though that some of that better weather couldn't have been here while they were working.... Hike was great!

Wednesday Afternoon, after Nicholas's swim we were off to a river park in Bothell. We had such fun there a week or so ago that we decided to go back. They too have a nice playground area , and well as a good river trail walk, with a few access points where the boys can get down to waters edge. It is always fun to be able to do that there, as the ducks come and visit every time. We got lucky with the weather that day too, as it had been drizzly a good part of the morning. By time time we made the park, the sun was beginning to show :-D , and stayed with us the whole time we were there. Nicholas was able to wade out into the river some too. He just loves to be able to get into the river! He didn't stay in long, waded with boots on, as it really was a bit cold to be swimming in. Nicholas wanted to walk some of the trail too. The fall colors there are starting to show. Really nice! William was content with all the sticks and rocks and fallen leaves he found. Way too funny, but cool too. Just like last week, we brought some food for the ducks. Nicholas had such fun feeding them. He had quite the audience. William was busy chanting: " ducks, ducks, ducks, ducks! " This time he stood by by Nicholas while he fed them, watched what to do, had a piece of bread of his own to fed them. He was cute, had a few of the ducks accept his offerings out of his hand. He was able to toss fairly well too. It was a nice afternoon at the park. Nicholas could have used another 2 hours there, he was so not done when it was time to leave. ;-) William too!

Thursday Afternoon, after William's swim, and Nicholas's school we were off to the Science Center. Once again the weather was not our friend, what rains! and winds! and fog! so........ Nicholas's solution was the Pacific Science Center. SWEET! and an excellent choice. This seems to be rapidly becoming a fave place for Nicholas, we've been every week for a month now. Science center was alot of fun, both boys got into just about everything, Even William wants to participate. That was fun to see. I think we spent 6 hours there, did it all. it never really did stop with the rains yesterday, rains all day. We had a very small break when we were at the science center, enough that we could get a half hour or so out with their waterworks through science stuff outdoors. Nicholas just loves that stuff. William too. It was water and all he wanted was to be in it. Nicholas likes the place, is getting much better at understanding some of the science behind what he interacts with. William just likes pushing all the buttons turning all those knobs. ;-) It's a great place, lots to do, lots for them to learn. It is unfortunate that some of the exhibit areas need work in that the stuff simply does not work anymore. other than that, still good. Neither boy wanted to leave....It is nice though to see them accept and know that these afternoon trips are short ones, and that they have to be selective in what they see. Both boys did well with that aspect.

Friday was our free day, and once again the weather was not our friend, what rains! and winds! Nicholas asked to go the the Seattle Aquarium. YAY! It had been a while since we had been there. They sure did have a great time. William is so much more mobile than he was the last time we were there, so it was nice to be able to set him down and let him roam. The joy of discovery on his face was just so awesome! The section that was the biggest hit was the tide pools, where they have so many anemones, starfish, etc. They allow hands (well, your "science finger") in there, so William got to experience his first anemone. Loved that, as did he: all smiles. It is interesting that Nicholas also enjoys the interactive screens that they have it here. We visit them all, with me reading what they say, him doing what needs to be done to get it all to work. Great leaning tool! William is a HUGE fan of the tropical fish tanks.    He just LOVES them, and can't get enough of any of the tanks. I wish that Picassa did the videos, as there is one that shows that excitement, as these fish swim by his face, with him following them with his fingers, all the while saying "FISHIE!!!!!" What a great day!!!

Normalcy in MusketeerVille!   The kitties are all doing well. Not too much new with them... Fall mode is here, they are bunkering down, but still yearning for the great outdoors when the sun is out. Elsa still ventures out, and when out she doesn't stay long. Bug could care less, Lola is ALWAYS grounded, and always wants OUT. My new patio door has been installed: step one on the catio development has been completed. I still haven't done much more than that. When I did price out what I really would like to build for the kitties, and I had a severe case of sticker shock.  So back to the drawing board on that one.  I may just try and figure out a way to enclose a portion of the deck for them, dunno on that... Lola, I have not forgotten your catio.... but you may have to wait a bit longer. ;-) I like Ann's idea in last weeks condo of making some tunnel runs for her, along the fence line. I think that would work, and she could get her need to run in. So, I will start looking at that option. Lola was a hoot on Tuesday when they installed that door. The weather was AWFUL, they were sawing and hammering, an the elements were blowing in the house some, despite all efforts with sheeting etc to kept it out. Lola was beside herself, you could see that look: "WHAT ARE THEY DOING TO MY HOUSE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?" She was running from window to window, to the door install spot, hollering up a storm, I finally put her in a spare room so she could settle, and not be so concerned. That helped alot. By the time they were done, she was asleep. The door did get her sniff of approval. YIPPIE!!! Nicholas continues to talk about Mannie. Last week, and the week before, I remember writing how at one point he told me that he really wishes Mannie could come home. ;-) He did this week too, and just like last week my thoughts were "Nicholas, so do I". A few times this past week he mentioned, out of the blue, that he misses Mannie. We told many a Mannie story that day, which coincidentally was Halloween, the day of the veil, the cay of the Circle of Remembrance. Thanks for coming to visit us Mannie! We all miss ya big guy! cat_pet_icon

Have a great Caturday everyone. Sorry this post it late today. Sorry too I missed everyone's condos yesterday too. Time this morning, and the days, have gotten away from me. At least the shopping is done, and the laundry. :-D I am off in a few for an afternoon walk in the woods. The rains continue, it will be a little WET, but I probably will go anyways. LOL: normal for Fall here... We had to buy a new TV, as our old one finally went "KA-PUT!", so that will be here this afternoon. I am looking forward to it, as it is one of the new "smart TV's"

KITTIES! Remember: think BLUE, think GREEN cat_pet_icon

Re: 11/1 LOOSE LIPS: Fun times! Happy Caturday LL!!

I miss the nanner king too, and will forever be grateful to him for the nanner idea. punkin sure loved his! i watched a video today of him loving up a nanner. :-D

my latest catio idea is to build an enclosure on our deck that covers the laundry room window. Not too big, maybe 3x5', but enough for a kitty tower and easy to let them get outside. Not too fancy, but easy to do. Just though i'd pass that on - i'm thinking there wouldn't be any sticker shock with something not too big, but it could have gymnastics equipment, er, i mean kitty climbing equipment for miss Lola. ;-)

we have the rain too . . .

Re: 11/1 LOOSE LIPS: Fun times! Happy Caturday LL!!

We miss Mannie too, and all the GA kitties. It is so sweet that Nicholas loves his buddy still and wants him to come home. We know just how he feels. We are relieved our Zener is no longer ill but we miss him so much.

Good Morning LL! ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) (YUM! I Love coffee!), and Happy Sunday!
LL! It's is I, Elsa, KBP!, president and CEO of Coffee Cat! Life is GOOD! Coffee is on, Lola and Bug , founders of Paw Prints Pizza, are ready to go! Want pizza? it is MEGA GOOD! They are busy getting ready for.... uh.... I dunno! but there sure is a flurry of activity in the kitchen. They say it is now November, and they needs a fall pizza special. They thinks that while catnip leaves would be major cool. Huh? Uh..... do catnip leaves change colors? They say no worries! the have plant extracts that change the color of things. What? well, I guess so, cuz those pizzas sure are colorful! so. well. anyways. ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) Coffee time! For today, I proudly offer Elsa's special 10 hour energy coffee, and triple shot espresso, beans from the heart of central Ethiopia. For my mocha fans: Venti Quad orange and vanilla mocha, laced with orange swirls, topped with chocolate whip, garnished with orange zest, slivered vanilla beans and chocolate swirls....... and orange drizzle! SWEET OH! No worries, a dollop of orange and vanilla and chocolate and caramel swirl ice cream, on top of a dollop of fudge, and a chocolate caramel drizzle.... Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh....... mega good!

Happy Sunday LL. I hope you all ad a great Caturday. We did OK. The home security system install and the new TV delviery took all of the day, so..... no walks for me. Which is OK. The new TV is awesome! and it is nice to finally have a home security system. my middle son, Anthony, the breffis on Tuesday son, came over to help with the set up of the new TV, and connect all the other stuff, like the Blue Ray, the antiquated VCR (yes, I still have VCR tapes   ) cable box, receiver, speakers, all that stuff. I suppose I could have figured it all out, well maybe   but it just seemed better to have someone who knows this stuff extremely well hook it all up. He did great, all all is operational, not one hitch. It is always so so cool when all comes together as it should.  What a nice picture on the Samsung. One doesn't realize how bad what you has is/was until you get new. ;-)

Enjoy your Sunday today! I have spent the morning on a very early beach walk, went at sunrise and walked the beach. It looks like by days end today it will be a very wet one in Edmonds. So off I went early this morning to walk the beach at Picnic Point Beach, before we are under siege. There wasn't alot of color this morning, it was rather chilly with the winds, but it still was a great walk. The tide was out enough that I could go from the Picnic Point beach area down to the beach area of Meadowdale Beach Park. Great time out!

Kitties are doing well this morning. There was a 5 minute sun window, so of course Elsa has waiting by the door to head on out. It was a bit chilly for her, so it wasn't two minutes later that she was ready to come in. Bug and Lola have been running a kitty marathon, non-stop this morning. The thundering herd has made its presence known.  Yesterday when the cable/security people were here Lola was their helper.        She left no box unexplored, no cable unplayed with, no plastic bag unattended (until we grabbed them from her) no twist tie un-tossed.   Crazy cat! Bug and Elsa hung out with the the home security guy. It seems he is a cat person, and they really liked him. Both of the let him pet them, and play with the a little. WOW! Impressive! Elsa rarely does that with strangers. Bug has his shy side too, so it was nice to see them both be social.

Enjoy your Sunday LL!!

And now the question. My son Anthony had to take his kitty to the vet yesterday. It seems he had several puncture wounds, and an abscess or two in his underarm/pit area, across part of his chest. Anthony did not know, as Bosco didn't complain, it wasn't visible, and he had not felt the injury when he picked him up. Until yesterday morning when he went to pick him up, Bosco growled and hissed, and Anthony felt wet on his hand... what a mess, as I guess the abscess had opened and was draining.... Anyways the short of this story is that the kitty now has a few drain tubes, and really should be wearing one of those collars so he will leave the vets work alone. The collar that they sent home with him just isn't working for Bosco, plus the thing it is just too big, even around the neck area. I know some of you here have come up with alternative to that collar, or a better version that what is dispensed at the vets, and I was wondering what you found worked without hindering kitty's activities too much. Let me know, please? THX in advance!

Hi Julie ~O) ~O) ~O) It is great to hear from you. AH yes.... Mannie and the nanners. I think those will Alwyn be his claim to fame. He just loved them, and never ever would share them with the others. silly cat! How coll that you have video. The few I have of Mannie I cherish, Sure wish I had more.... Very nice on your catio idea. I am thinking along that lien too: a small one off of one of the windows, or through a cat door. I really do want a cat run for Lola, but think this too would be an easy way to go, maybe not to expensive. and yes!!! need that gymnastics equipment for Lola.  She really needs that too! Our resident climber....

Hi Anne, and Liz ~O) ~O) I really like that Pooh pic. I remember seeing it in a few condos, and think it is just one of the best, my sentiments exactly. I spent some time the other day after reading the Halloween party condo, remembering all the GA's. That brought back so many memories. I think so too on Nicholas. He does miss him. it is at the oddest times when he brings him up, and often on road trips, when things occasionally settle in the car and he is lost in thought, out will come this " Grammie, I miss Mannie..." I so now you miss your Z-Man. I think we all do, but know just how you feel too. I too was relieved that Mannie no longer had to suffer as he did those last few weeks, but missed him terribly.

I'm sorry about Bosco. I hope he heals quickly. I don't know about the collar. I know they come in different sizes and there are some soft ones, but I don't know if that would work.

I'm glad the kitties are doing well. How funny on the helpers the security guy had. It sounds like another busy week for you and the boys. It is great you have places to go when the weather is bad.

Hi Carla ~O) :-D No worries on the collar. It seems that so far Bosco is leaving it all alone, so maybe all will be well. In the meantime Anthony is looking for an alternative, as that collar they gave him just isn't working. I hope he can find a smaller soft one, I think that might be better. He called me today to say that Bosco was feeling much better, paying and getting around OK. YAY! I loved the fact that the kitties decided to help the security guy - it really was rather cute. He was kind enough to spend a little tie with them. THX too on the boys - I too am grateful that we have found a few places to go when it is such awful weather, I hope I can find a few more to add to our wet day arsenal.

Hi Michelle,
I just got to your weekly and found so many fascinating pictures. What are the large birds on the pilings at Picnic Point? Are they commorants? What great shots! I also liked the shot of the large nest at Bothell. The pics of William at the pool remind me so much of Nicholas at that age. It's wonderful that both boys are so enthusiastic about the water.

The Seattle pics are really neat. Wow, the city has changed a lot since I lived there! (But then I didn't get downtown much because I didn't have enough money to take the bus).

I'm sorry that Bosco got hurt, but very glad that he is getting better and leaving his wounds alone.

Hooray that the door got hung and that the new TV is wonderful!!

Have a great week. Thanks for visiting us. Rusty really enjoyed seeing Chef Mannie, his mentor, through the veil. He needed clarification on some recipes.

Ella & Rusty

Yo Elsa, We have another full moon this week: the Beaver Moon, on Thursday. Can you, Bug and Lola come to my house tomorrow to help plan the party?
~Rusty

Hi Ella ~O) :-D THX on all. I am not sure on the birds. I had seen alot of heron that morning, but know that was not them. They do look like a commorant, but I'm just not sure. Posturing etc is the same. I agree too on William, he is so much like his brother in the love of the water, and the pool! he is having such fun with it. :-D I am glad too that you like the Seattle pics, it was a great day there. It seems like the city is always changing, the again that park remains a constant. THX too on Bosco. Last report from my DS is that he is ding well, so far is leaving the vets work untouched, more or less. He hopes it stays that way until he goes for a recheck on TH. Paws crossed! THX for thinking of Mannie.... I still miss him. Nice the I and Nicholas thought of him on Halloween, felt his presence too.
RUSTY! DUDE! We are so there! OOOOOOOOOOOO! Warm up the radiators! We gots planning to do! ~~ Elsa

Your life sounds as busy as usual. Sorry to hear about Bosco. There is an inflatable collar, I've seen them at Drs Foster and Smith, probably elsewhere too. It should work really well to hep him away from a chest wound. That is what I'd get if I needed one again. The little blue thing from the vet just flopped around.

Kon ban wa, Ann

Hi Michelle, as always your life in the fast lane makes mt head spin :-D I am with you, hopeffully we are not done hiking for the year, but I think I mentioned, there was snow on Steven"s pass on our last trip to Leavenworth a week ago. Hoping for just a little more nice weather- do you remember a few years ago, it rained for the entire month of January ohmygod_smile

Thank you for your comforting words for Tiger- I don't know what I would do without this forum!

I love that quote from Winnie The Pooh- I had that poster when my boys were little! :-D

BTW, those birds imitating pilings are Double Crested Cormorants.

Morning Everyone! ~O) ~O) ~O) Elsa is out on her coffee deliveries. somehow I make a poor substitute.... but here ya go! ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O)

Hi Ann - many thanks on the collar info. I will send him the link to the fosters and smith place. That sounds like it will be much better for Bosco. You are right that blue thing just flops around, way too big, and is freaking out his kitty. ;-) I hope you are enjoying japan!

Hi Ruth - LOL on the head spinning. I so know on the hiking thing. Guess I need to start thinking lowlands.... I seem to have spent alot of time in Bellinghan last year, whidbey, cougar/tiger mtns. I shall miss the mountains! i am so with you on the weather... I do remember that January where it rained the whole month. Do you remember that winter a few years back where it snowed and snowed and snowed and we had snow covered streets in Seattle for three weeks? talk about crippling a city that wasn't used to it, and to have that happen just before Christmas! ;-) Me too on the Pooh quote. I've always loved Winnie the Pooh for that very reason - always good things there. I hope Tiger is nicely. Never fun when they get sick like that. THX too on the bird ID! I learned something. I am grateful to people like you, and Ella, that know their birds. :-D

Michelle, do I ever remember that horrible winter, that was really just a few years ago, where the stupid snow and cold weather would not quit! ohmygod_smile I slipped and fell that year, dislocated my shoulder trying to fill my birdfeeders plus I lost so many plants and shrubs...I hope we are not in for another one of those years!

I'm like you, both DH and I love the mountains, but yes, Whidby,Deception Pass, Bellingham, they all have some nice hikes, but it just isn't the same...I forgot to say, as always, your pictures are spectacular!! And thanks for the encouragement with Tiger, she's a little better today! :-D Fingers crossed so you can get your hike in this week!

Morning Ruth ~O) ~O) ~O) LOL, but I am glad none of us forget that winter....  ohmygod_smile I sure hope we never see another one like it again. I had a few slips on all that ice and compacted snow too, thankful for no injuries. it was such a mess here at the house, nothing but ice. I do agree with you on the lowland hikes, they can be nice, but nothing will compare to the mountain. I hope for one more trip through the north cascades before the road closes. paws crossed! I dunno.... I read already of road issues there well, we shall see. TX too on the pics. I have fun taking them, get a few good ones now and then. and I do wish a seedy recovery for Tiger. P'titis is never fun, give it some time, a little better each day, and soon back to happy healthy Tiger. Keep on truckin' Tiger!
