I will begin to apologize for being more out than in. I am so sorry, you girls (and guys) are awesome, but I am so tired and depressed about my furbaby. I did not sleep well in the past nights because I wake up in the night to check on her breathing (it reminds me of the days when I did that for her BGs).
Anyway, the asthma attacks seem to be triggered by pain and unfortunately nothing came on radiography, ultrasound or CBC.
She lies down all day long, not getting up unless she needs to go to the litter box, so it is not neuropathy. However, she has kind of robotic walking style that reminded me a lot of my sciatica attacks. The doctor thinks that the kidney stones (struvites) are giving her a hard time and we are currently trying to figure out the best way to address it. She still gets the inhaler because the pain can shoot so high through her little body that it triggers the asthma attack.
Did or do you girls deal with kidney stones issues for your furbabies? Any idea about treatment options and especially food options/supplements?
Chanel is currently on fluticasone (inhaler) twice a day, Cerenia once every other day, Zyrtec twice a day, Amoxy suspension twice a day, and Gabapentin twice a day.
She has diarrhea or more like 'she is peeing through her butt' and it scares me so so much. I used to give her the probiotic (the S. boulardii is coming tomorrow and hopefully it will change things) before but before she did not take so much medication.
I know it is usually the amoxy that will kill the gut bacteria, but oh boy, the gabapentin does not do any favors. I gave her the gabapentin last night and I thought she will start vomiting. Her doctor changed her to bupre.
In conclusion, the poor Chanel baby may have back ache due to kidney stones and tummy aches because her little body became a pharmacy. I am trying to make things right, but I am so confused right now, spending time between working and trying to find foods that may help with the kidney stones.
If you can help me with some hints, please do. I do not care about how expensive it might be, I want to see some relief on that little face. Even now she is so loving and kissing my hands...and I feel horrible because my hands give her all that medication that makes her even worse.
I am sorry, I am just not in a good place.

S boulardii was a life saver for us. You can give small amounts (like 1/5 capsule) every 2 hours in emergencies. It usually only took Simon about 6 hours of this before his diarrhea would clear up. Also buprenorphine is a much more effective pain killer than gaba so I think it will really help Chanel. I’m sorry you are going through this! I will be wishing you and Chanel the best :bighug::bighug:

Bupr can also cause constipation which in her case might be the right direction. Also propectalin can be really helpful for diarrhea but you might want to try one thing at a time.
Do you mean bladder stones? Did they see them on X-rays? Does she have trouble peeing? The rescue I volunteered with had a cat with bladder stones and they eventually were so bad they needed to be surgically removed. This was after diet didn’t help. That was the only way to bring relief. And special diet helped prevent future ones.
The only other thing I can recommend is trying to find a board certified internal medicine specialist who is a good diagnostician. Even if just for a second opinion. Sometimes just a second set of experienced eyes can give you more insight. It’s obvious you love your girl so much and I know she knows you are doing everything for her out of that love. I’ll be thinking of you and sending Chanel healing vibes. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

She has kidney stones, not bladder stones. Unfortunately, I am not able to find any food options that would work for a diabetic cat, dissolve the kidney stones that Chanel would like. The doctor did x-ray and ultrasound, and pretty much lots of tests, of course the usual blood work as well. Everything came back normal, except her urine pH of 8.5, struvite crystals and glucose in urine (first time for Chanel), and the kidney stones.
