Good morning!
AMPS 205 shooting 2.5u

Boomer ate well last night but woke me around 3:00 so I got up and scooped his food out of the auto feeder for him.

Allen also ate well last night. He was feeling better yesterday; when I came home from my photo session he was sitting on the couch with DH and later in the afternoon he sat between us for a while. I will be phoning the vet in a bit to see if we can get him in for b/w today. Going to run the test for pancreatitis as well; apparently they do that in-house now.

Yesterday the sun was actually out for a while; I had a photo session which had been postponed 3 times due to weather. Happy it finally happened but disappointed that I couldn't go for a birding photo walk while it was nice out. The sun was covered by clouds before the session ended and now it's raining again and expected to for the next two days. The Snowy Owls have come back into Ontario; I don't know of any that have been spotted in my city yet but I plan to go for a drive sometime this week to look!

Today's photo is of a Swamp Sparrow from Saunders Pond a few days ago.

And there he goes again. +3 265
I don't know what to do. He has no chance of showing us good numbers because, as soon as he shows any sign of coming down, he bounces back up again.
See if the pancreatitis test offered in-house is the snap or the full test. The snap test will be a yes or no, but the full one will give you a number.
Ok I will try to remember that. The number....will that tell us whether it's mild pancreatitis or more serious?

I’m sure it’s the SNAP if in house. More recently I’ve read it’s fine to use it. Since Allen is feeling better it might not give you the info you need though since it only registers yes or no. If he’s in the gray area it will say he doesn’t have it. :banghead:

If it's above normal, then it's pancreatitis. If it's high or super high, it doesn't matter because that is not straight correlation to how bad the pancreatitis flare is. But if it's above normal, then Allen will be considered a panc kitty for the rest of his life.

Back from the vet. Apparently they only do the snap pancreatitis test in house but since the rest of the tests are done at the lab they'll have the lab do the pancreatitis (full) test too. Results should be available tomorrow.

The next time Boomer wakes you In the middle of the night, I would grab a quick test. Looks like a bounce from wherever he got to last night.

Paws crossed for Allen’s b/w results.

Good luck on the snowy owl hunt. We’ve had huge flocks of what I think are Barrows Goldeneye hanging out in our cove. Haven’t managed to row close enough for a proper ID, but they make the right noises when they all take off at once in flight.

He doesn't need to go very low these days to cause a bounce, unfortunately.

I guess I should be increasing again tomorrow @Wendy&Neko . I know he's far from good numbers now but I remember what happened last time he had glucose toxicity, when we finally hit a good dose, and he came down fast and furious. I don't need that happening when my DH has these treatments coming up (not sure of a start date or time yet) and we both will be away each day (although the treatments are only about 20 minutes and we live very close to the hospital).
