Yesterday Butters' BG was high all day and overnight. Hopefully that was some new dose wonkiness and today will be better. She hasn't had a blue or green number in five days, though, in spite of the increases. Hard not to worry about glucose toxicity. This morning is cycle 3 of 1.625u. I'm hoping for better numbers today.

This morning she eagerly ate her breakfast and wanted more. So I gave her a little more. :cat: Now she is back in my lap while I work and she seems pretty content. Small win. :)

Yay for small victories!! So glad Butters is eating well and is cuddly. Hopefully her numbers come down for you with this dose. She's starting off a bit better today than yesterday :) Have a great day, Lyla
 
She’s feeling better and based on the way she’s acting not in pain. Yay for that! Once you get to the right dose the BG will follow. Do I need to look in my closet for my old patience pants? Lol. Try not to think about how high you will need to increase as what comes up will come down. Have a good day. :bighug:

This is a big win Lyla :bighug:. “Eager” to eat is such a great sign....wanting more is awesome. She’s in your lap...really, really positive signs!

You are adjusting the dose and working on getting the pain managed....both will help with the BG:).
 
Good points Thank you. :) :bighug: She does seem to be doing good and I'm relieved it appears that she isn't in any pain. I know she's doing pretty well when I'm stuck on the couch or bed all day trying to work because she won't get off of me. She digs her claws into me if I try. :blackeye:

I am going to be happy for that. But I did give away all of my patience pants, so if you have a spare I'll take them. With every test I get my hopes up that I'll see a lower number. She seems to be feeling good, pain under control at this particular moment....soooo....why not spend the day at the beach!? :confused:

Hey there Lyla and Butters! I'm sorry to see she's being so reluctant to get those numbers down...I'm sure hoping the last increase makes a difference...it not, don't wait too long to increase again...at least with TR you can afford to step it up a little faster. I'm not liking all that pinkishness on her SS!

How is she doing otherwise? Looks like from above she's got a healthy appetite and loves sitting on her mama! Maybe she just needs a little more juice to help get those beta cells stirred up again?

Butters' +9 deflated my joy. 436. Of course, I'm looking for something to explain why her numbers are getting higher and higher as I increase her insulin. Can I still use the New Dose Wonkiness excuse? NDW lasts less than 24 hours but is usually seen on day 2 of a new dose. Since today is day 2/cycle 3 of the new dose, I think can still hope for some NDW.

She was never very interested in playing when her BG was high before. This time around, I'm not able to tell if she won't play because she is still recovering/not feeling 100% from the pancreatitis or if she won't play only because her BG continues to be sky high.
 
It’s more likely to be due to what they refer to as the “waxing and waning” of pancreatitis. There are changes in insulin secretion and insulin resistance because of it :(. This is why you are able to have a stretch of time when a dose looks good or at least ok but then suddenly either see higher #s or a drop.

The inflammation involved is tough:banghead:. At some
point if there continues to be difficulty regulating the BG &/or a “stall” with recovery, additional supportive therapies may be necessary as there may be inflammation of more than just the pancreas (often the case).

Did you give her the lower dose of Bupe today?
 
It seems like it's this vicious circle. It will be extremely challenging to get past the "waxing and waning", and therefore it will continue to be challenging to get her BG back on track. :(

I stuck with the lower dose of gabapentin today (25mg q8). I went back to gabapentin this morning after watching her pace most of the night:). She still seems to be doing pretty good this evening from a pain perspective as far as I can tell. Still in my lap.
 
Her pancreas is still healing so I'm sure the numbers will start to come down with time. As long as she's acting more like herself and eating, those are wonderful signs that she's on the mend. Put on those pancreas patience pants, you got this. I'm sure I will go through something similar with Mo when he gets home. We can work through this together :bighug::)
