Timmy's numbers have been dropping today. He is now 107 at +6. I just gave him a snack. Do I test at 30 minutes now?

That's a good idea-- it's a safe number and we should be past the main action of the Vetsulin so he should be starting to rise now, but he seems to have a longer duration than most so we want to keep a careful eye on him. The 107 is a great number! When he's here, it gives his pancreas a chance to heal, but with Vetsulin we don't want him dropping too much below 100, or if he does, only very late in the cycle at the end of the action of the insulin.

Just checked the SS and Timmy is now at 161 so no problem. He's on his way back up.

Hi all, I just got a big lesson on how food influences the BG. Wow! I fed him right after that 107 reading and a little over 30 minutes he is up. Should I test again in 30 minutes or wait a while?

I think you can give his little ears a break and not test again till +9. The 161 may be food influence but I expect the insulin is wearing off too. Assuming he is up even more at +9 no more testing needed till pre-shot.

107 is a very safe number.... Esp on a human meter. I know you aren't used to seeing it, but that's where you want him. No need to steer it up.Hi all,

Thank you so, so much!!!!! Exactly what I needed to know. His +8 was 93 just now. I'm going to retest him in about 20 minutes. I also gave him a snack. Good things are happening with his numbers.

These amounts could shift if his body lowers is need for insulin. Doing good.
