Well, I am not sure of all the things the kittehs do at their parties (and I think I am glad they don't share EVERYTHING), but pretty sure my Skooterman must have overindulged ever so slightly.....think he is nursing a food hangover......

About six weeks ago, my goal/desire was to have Skooter in remission by my birthday, since that is on Saturday, I don't see that happening. I will be ordering insulin pens tomorrow and they should arrive by the end of October, which is when his insulin will "go bad". I am hoping that OTJ is still a possibility for him, I know the longer out from dx the less likely it becomes, but again, still hopeful. Not sure what happened last night....I have gotten in the habit of smelling by the injection site each time I dose him, even if I am positive that the insulin got in. I didn't smell anything....with a starting number of 102, I was anticipating a wonderful green surf....and got higher numbers instead....not horribly high numbers, but still. I am wondering if his insulin is starting to lose its potency now.

I guess only time will tell......

Still thinking of Anne, Liz and Tillie....Make sure to give an extra snuggle to your furbabies.....vines and hugs to all who need them, and those that don't///

Re: 10/9 Skooter AMPS 157

I don't want to know what those kitties do at the parties, either  !

Trix's case is very non-traditional and in some ways she's not the ideal example, but she went OTJ after being on the juice for over 3 years! We have other members who went OTJ after being on insulin for in the 2 year range. You do never know!

The do love to keep us guessing with their numbers, don't they? Sometimes they just stay flat-ish....who knows why...probably because they're cats and love to mess with us!

Have a great day, Molly!

Re: 10/9 Skooter AMPS 157

I suspect we all start this dance hoping it ends with a chorus of OTJ. And we never know. Cats!

Hope the boy brings the numbers back down and proves the insulin still has its kick. (With my big-gulper we don't much worry about insulin losing potency; the girl goes through a pen every couple of weeks! Guess that's an upside )

C'mon Skoots. Bring 'em down.

Molly, have a good day.

Hi Molly,

You and Skoots and Clare and I started our spreadsheets at about the same time, and yours shows your progress a lot more clearly than ours does. It seems that you must be very close to reaching your goal; or at the very least, to finding a good healthy rhythm for Skooter that keeps him safe and needing a minimum amount of insulin.

Here's wishing you a lovely birthday on Saturday! I'm hoping you can have some time to really enjoy the day and enjoy your friendship with Skooter, and feel good for what you've accomplished together! He's one lucky kitty!

Thanks for the visits Amy, Marilyn and Georgette!

I am thinking that his insulin is starting to die out.....his numbers aren't anything all that special, but at least he is staying blue....

I will be ordering his insulin tomorrow and should have it in two weeks (fingers crossed).....I will also be ordering more IBD meds....guess his medications will be my bday present to myself  Good thing it is pay day tomorrow!

Re: 10/9 Skooter AMPS 157 +5.5 123 PMPS 164 +2 131 +3 95 +5

Since I am off until Tuesday morning, tonight will be night one of my experiment. I am going to get up at 3 am (+9) to give him a little bit of food and see if that will help bring is AM numbers down a bit.....and I can get some practice in with shooting lower numbers....

we shall see how this works.....

Good luck with the fuds experiment overnight. It's great you've got a long stretch of time off now. Skoots does look great. We've been at it almost three years and Neko's numbers don't look as good.

Molly, do not ever give up. Cinco went OTJ 2.5 months after almost dying with DKA. He fell out of remission 1.25 years later after contracting the Bartonella virus. It cost him his eyesight and both eyes, but two year later, he's still here and right now he's frolicking in the lagoon! Anything is possible if you care enough. You and Skooter have come miles since his diagnosis, and you're not done. Have faith and hang in there! You are an awesome bean.
